Goodspeed, made the following announcement: "At a meeing of the university committee on athletics, at which various interests were represented, Mr. Folwell being present, it was voted that Mr. Folwell's name h restored to the list of tentatively approved candidates for next year's football coaches." Folwell was interrogated h members of the committee for thirty-live minutes. He left for his home in the suburbs before the decision was .announced. The action of the committee in declaring that it would be "unwise" to re-engage Folwell caused a storm of protest. Telegrams and petitions from students and alumni in all sections of the country urging that he be retained were received by the university authorities. Y. M.
