A meeting of the nominating eommitteo was held inimediatly after the noon luncheon and it was expected that the report of the com-1 irittee would he accepted. Preceding the convention proper, the secretaries of the "branches of the Indiana society met. Various laws that have been passed in Ohio were discussed by Dr. U. G. Patterson of Columbus, in his talk on "The District Sanatorium Idea." lie said that a measure had been pawned by the Ohio legislature in 191?. to permit soveral counties to combine in establishing tuberculosis Sanatoriums. Indiana Iiw Appi-ocd. Advantages of the Indiana law in that a county may either establish Its own tuberculosis hospital or that it may combine with another county were pointed out by Dr. 11. I. Sensenich of South Hend, in discussing Dr. Patterson's talk. He said a provision also had been made in the law to permit the hospital of one county to take patients from another county in the event that the institution was not tilled. Miss Collmer explained the course that is Kiven every year in New York City for secretaries of ant!-tubereu-losis leagues under the supervision of the National Anti-Tuberculosis society. She sail that visits to tuberculosis camps around New York City were conducted in connection with the lectures on the prevention and cute of the disease. Mayor Keller SikmU. Mayor Keller opened the convention with an address of welcome to the delegates. He said that South Hend w as doing as much as possible in fighting tuberculosis and other diseases, pointing to the health and housing survey being conducted hy Dr. Carroll Pox of the federal health department .as a step In this direction. Prof. Severance Ourrane devoted his presidential address to a discussion of the health plan that is being put into operation at Framingham. Mass. He said that a large insurance company had placed medical experts in charge of tlie town and that It was planned to make the place a model city from the standpoint of health. SALVATION ARMY TO JOIN IN CAMPAIGN Platform l'or Services Will l-ertl at .IcflVrsoii ltld. and MHiigan St. Series of afternoon services to be held on the corner of Jefferson and Michigan sts., have been arranged by the Salvation Army in conjunction with the simultaneous revival campaign which begins Sunday with services in thirty South Hend and Mishawaka churches. A platform will be erected for the use of the Salvation Army workers, while a portable organ has been donated thrcniKh the courtesy of the V. M. C. A. Special music, boh vosal and instrumental will be on the program. Captain A. Spreng of Mishawaka. is to assist in the outdoor s'rices. It is expected to continue the meetings throughout the duration of the revival campaign unless inclement weather interferes. One of the features of the simultaneous campaign, is the series of cottage prayer meetings to be held on Thursday and Friday of each week. Last year meetings of this character were held although they were union in nature, being arranged by a gene ral committee. The meetings this year are primarily for the members of each individual church, attendance being as large as last year. PETITIONS ARE FILED BY TWO DEMOCRATS Two new names were added to the list for position on the democratic primary ballots as candidates for membership In the common council. These new candidates almost counterbalance the total number of aspirants on the republican ballot which registers but a single candidate for councilman at large and only two for ward councilman. Victims of Crossing Accident Near Osceola Taken to Mishawaka Hospital. Tw o men. vhos names could not be learned, were seriously injured when the speeding west! ound car struck the machine in which they were riding at the crossir.g at station H. the first station east of Osceola.
