Despite the shortage the price of Pocahontas coal has remained almost unchanged and now is selling for $8.50 per ton. Dealers said there probably would be no increase In the price of this line, because it would be only a few lays until they would have no coal on which to make an advance. All Weist Virginia coal has been tied up as the result of embargoes placed by railroads. Articles published In coal Journals say there is no relief from the shortage in sight.

Restaurants Arc Supplied With Help Through IYec Fmployment Agency.
Several women and girls applied Friday at the local branch of the Indiana Free Employment agency In response to an article in Thursday evening's edition of The News-Times stating the wages offered by restaurant proprietors and the lack of help. Supt. Alex Langel secured positions for three of the applicants. As high as $S per week and board are offered by the restaurant men. Calls for helj were received Friday morning from the WinklerGrimm corporation, and from the South Bend Toy works and else
where. About 10 applicants were sent out by the bureau. During the week ending Friday, j

During the luncheon and afterward questions that are to occupy the committee for the coming year as well as ways and means of accomplishing the most good for the business men of this city, were discussed. The committee has heen established for the purpose of rendering any assistance in rate cases of which it is capable. Members are asked to submit any difficulties they may have to the committee for its help. At present the committee is working on several rate cases and expect to obtain equitable decisions.
