NI-:V VOIIK. Nov. 2 4. That major and minor league players in all leagues prottcteil by the liasehall riars fraternity will refuse to sin their ccntr;u'ts unless the national association, the KoverninK body of the minor leagues, prants requests recently made upon it by the fraternity, was asain indicated by a statement made here Thursday by I'rest Pavid Fultz of the fraternity. "The national association simply must urant these requests; that is all there is to it," said Fultz. "We have pledges from virtually all our players not to si'ii contracts utiles they ret word from officers of the fraternity. "I am more sure than ever that Me have the majority of the players behind us on this issue. Since the minor league conference ignored our requests in Xew Orleans, I have received letters from dozens of players asking that 'we sit tiiiht. " Fultz also said he had sent Chairman Herrmann of the national commission copies of contracts entered into lat season hy Ray Keating of New York and John Henry of Washington. Doth of these contracts had clauses exempting the club from paying- the player salary in the event of injury met while playing ball, Fultz declared.

Fritz Pollard of Brown, plays under a greater handicap than any other halfback in the country; yet he ranks at the top. Pollard gets more bumps and more hard tackling than any other pigskin toter. The etliciency of a halfback usually is -decreased considerably when the enemy can "spot" him. And because Bollard is a Negro the enemy never fails to find him among the grhup of Brown interference. They "spot" and they make their play almost always for Pollard, because he does at least two-thirds of the ball carrying for the Providence boys. But they cannot halt ,him. "(let Pollard!" has been the order of almost every coach whose team has faced Brow n this j car. But "getting" Pollard is a trick as hard of accomplishment as was "getting" Heston in the by-gone days. Pollard must suffer more jolts. 1 nd wallops than any other player but he seems to be unhurt able.

CHICAC.O. Nov. 24. News that! the New York American league baseball club has laid plans to j build the ;,Teatest baseball park iu j the country, with a double decked grand stand to hold 2$, COO and!
1 bleachers and pavillions to make a
total capacity of 50,000 persons, was
given out here Thursday night by B. B. Johnson, president of the American league. He had just returned from French Pick, Ind., where the plans were fully gone over with Jacob Huppert and Capt. Huston, and announced that practically the only unsettled business was to get the grounds. The arrangements contemplated will exceed the capacity of the Boston National leaguj park by about S.000, it was said. Pres't Johnson said the location already had been considered and an option obtained on a piece of property big enough to take care of the p'aying fiel i and the stands. It is not expected that the new ground will be ready for occupancy until year after next, hut the club will not be homeless, as it has an option on the Polo grounds. "The American league always has been opposed to playing on any grounds but its own," said Mr. Johnson, "and the new venture is in keeping with this policy. The outlay will he over a million dollars. Still New York is big" enough for two parks, so we will have one of our own."
