Citizen's tank at three o'clock Priday afternoon, attacked the cashier, Famurl P. Gray and escaped with $4 00. They w ere surrounded and apt tired in a. cornfield soon afterward, but r.ot until after several shots had been exchanged by them and the pursuing posse. The two robbers were Identified as William A. Dixon, 2S years old. and Pwalt Crescent, 17 years old, both of Detroit. They said they had been tramping about the country, but the police are inclined to believe they are professionals, as it was found that they had hidden a rifle for use in case they were forced to tight. The warning was sounded by Miss Laim Ward. a bookkeeper, who on returning to the hank surprised the robbers at their work. .She gave chase but soon was outdistanced hut succeeded in attracting attention of passersby. Dixon, who was wounded in the face by shot, interceded for 'Crescent, declaring that he had led "the kid" into the raid and asked the officials to be "easy on him." He said they had planned the robbery while at Danville, 111., and had loafed about ('ovington several days, perfecting their plans.
