A prood story, very well produced by Maurice Tourneur, with House Peters and Zena Keefe, heading the cast, will be seen at the Italic today in "The Kail Rider." The plot deals with the ri.e of a locomotive engineer who brings about the undoing of the . dishonest manager of the road. The first part of the picture. wh':h was photographed en a picturesque single-track railroad, running through a mountainous country, is practicularly attractive, and the subject is one that will interest and entertain. Florence Iibadie, in the role of a pirl, who to save her sister, takes upon herself the suspicion of a murder she riid not commit, will he featured at the Lasalle on Friday in "The Fugitive." The story' ia oiled with mystery, suspense and dramatic interest. AT Tili; COIX)MAL. Anita Stewart, the winning young screen favorite of the Vitgraph company, who plays the part of the girl reporter in "The Darin? of Diana," the exciting picture story, which was shown at the. Colonial yesterday, will again thrill the spectators at thati theater today, in the repetition of the same excellent subject. The plot revolves about the effort of the villain, to masquerade as the owner of the Argt.s. a NewYork newspaper, of which he is the Paris representative. It is filled with hair-raising episodes and dramatic moments that keep the attention ever alert. An intense melodrama with a uood moral lesson is "The Iaht At Dusk", which will be shown at the t'olonial tomorrow and Saturday. The leading part is taken by Orrin Johnson and he shows appreciable skill in the portrayal of character. The picture is one that gains a firm hold on the spectators' interest, curiosity and sympathy right from the beginning and this hold is never relinquished for a moment throughout the entire production. The scene of the story is laid in Kussia. AT Tili: Al'DITOUIlTM. Not since he was seen in the role of John lUirkett Rider, in "The Lion and the Mouse," the characterization which won him fame, has the noted dramatic actor Fdmund Preese. found a part more fitted to his distinctive talents than he has in "The Weakness of .trenqth" his latest screen vehicle in which he is appearing at the Auditorium today. The story, which was written especially for Mr. Breese is brimful of thrilling and intensely novel situations and possesses absorbing Interest throughout. It deals with a man's regeneration, after sacrilicins love. honor and the regard of his fellows in his pursuit after power and wealth. An unusually strong cast, including Clifford Uruce. Orrrii Hawley and l'velyn Brent, is seen in sup. port of the star. Charming Billie Burke will entertain with two acts of " (Iloria's Itomance" in which she has l een appearing for a number of weeks and which will clo.e very shortly. The scenes in the "Half-Breed" the new Douglas Fairbanks picture on tomorrow's Triancle program were taken In Calaveras county, the California home of tbo hi trees. The play is a dramatization of "In the Carqinnfz Woods" one of pret Harte's stories. Jewel Carmen, who played the vampire i the Norma Talm.nl; picture "The Children in the House" has an important part in the production. "Madcap Ambrosia" is the Keystone comedy on the bill. It has been staged with sumptuous attributes in the way of scenery and music, never before associated with motion pictures. "Itamona" came to New York with the hearty endorsement of the Catholics of California, as a beautiful, accurate representation of a period in our history when the Cross was marching In advance of civilization. John McGroartj', the California pott and author of the Mission play, which depict the hardships of the Franciscan padres. The readers cf "Ramona." of which there have beer, por e four million copies sold, need not be told that it ia inseparably cot nected with the Franciscan missions of California, In its references to the missions and to the "padres," "Ramona" i so true to life, so true to their tpirit, that it can be used to great advantage as an auxiliary textbook by those who wish to gain a true conception of the Franciscans and their work. This production of "Ramona" contains many representatives of those California Indians whose race was snatched from the darkness and ignoranceof heathenism and lifted by Catholic effort into the light and intelligence of civilization and Christianity.
