Continuation of the record h-ut wave Hweeping over th country caused two more deaths in South Bend yesterday and many prostrations, some f which were reported and others which were not rhade known to the police or hospital authorities. Milo Troyer. employe of the Independent lie Co.. went into the loft of the company barn at 427 K. Iipalle av., yesterday afternoon. He was found dead there at 4:30 o'clock. He had complained of feeling ill on Friday morning. Troyer lived at 821 Niles pt., with his brother Samuel. He was 31 years old. August I'udig. a weaver, died in his room at 307 K. Howard st., was brought to the police station and reported as being intoxicated. The big. new Italian passenger liner, Re D'ltalia, has been attacked by a German submarine on her present voyage to Xew York, but escaped owing to the fact that she was armed. The Italian ministry pave news of the attack in an official statement issued today. The following report was made on the incident: "A submarine attacked the Be D'ltalia while proceeding to NewYork. The ship opened fire and finally escaped." The Re D'ltalia is one of the newest ships in tho Italian-New York service. She is owned by the Llodys-Sabarnudo line and registers 3.982 tons net. In accordance with a ruling of the Italian ministry of marine made some time ago. she is armed with two guns for defensive purposes. The gross tonnage of the Up D'ltalia is 6,237 tons. She is 430 feet lonp. 52 feet in the beam and hails from Geioa.
