START SOUTH Third Indiana Regiment; Leaves for Border in Three Train Sections. KOKT 15 UN JAM I.N HAUKISmN, I Ind.. July s. The third Indii.no. j ! regiment of infantry entrained early' this evening1 and started for the .Mexican bonier. The regiment in- j eludes s27 men and officers. It i the second unit of the Indiana na-j tional guard to start for the border, j Its destination is believed to be near! 1 .rownsville. Texas. , The departure of the third infantry was different from that of the! first artillery battalion Thursday night. As the trains pulled out rousing cheers echoed through Camp Ualston. Uoth the departing! soldiers and those in camp joined in the cheering. There were very few Uarful farewells, which was in contrast to the departure of the artillery lattalion. That was due to the fact that practically all of the members of the third are from cities and towns out in the state, and their relatives and friends could not get to the camp in time to see them off. Officers Toft Hehind, A number of officers were in the list of those left behind as unfit for service, among them being Capt. John C. Iichner, quartermaster of the third; First I.ieut. Arthur Halstead of the Monticello company. First Lieut. Leroy V. Uibler of tho Warsaw- company, Capt. "William L. Richmond, commander of the Portland company. Lieut. James L. Young, recently assigned as a bxttalion quartermaster of the third, and Capt. Hoy Lige of Auburn. About 1Ö0 men were rejected. All have or will receive honorable discharges. The regiment is traveling in three sections. Col. A. I Kuhlman. commander of the regiment, is on the first section with the third battalion under command of Maj. Groll. Uieut. Col. George L. Freyermuth is on the second section with the second battalion, commanded by Maj. Healey and the first battalion commanded by Maj. Shaughniss is on the last section. To Luvo Today. The signal company of Indianapolis and ambulance company No. 1 of Frankfort expect to entrain Saturday. Much of thj packing already has been completed. Ambulance company No. 2, recently organized, may not get the order to start for several days because of lack of equipment. The held hospital company is under orders to move Saturday if possible, but there may be a delay until some disposition can be made of the 20 patients in the hospital. The second infantry hopes to start Saturday. The first infantry may not get started until Monday. There are two companies in the second and one in the first which have not been accepted formally as yet by the war department. Try NEWS-TIIviES Want Ads Buzzing Factories.
