Studebakers Rush 25 Water Wagons to Mexico

Build 27 Auto Trucks in 24 Hours in Detroit

DETROIT. Mich.. March '22. Twenty-seven automobile trucks, manufactured on a rush order from the war department for use in Mexico, left Detroit late Tuesday afternoon for the Mexican horder. The order was received Monday and the machines, designed for military use, were loaded into a special train of 14 steel cars, and started south one hour and 23 minutes ahead of schedule time. The train is due at the border in 51 hours, the fastest time ever made from Detroit to Mexico. The exact destination of the train -wa carefully guarded and agents of the government refused to Fay over what lines it would run. When a call was made at the automobile plant for volunteers to handle the cars In Mexico there was almost a riot. Hundreds of workers rushed forward eager to enli?t for the work. Thirty-four men were selected and they are on their way to the front with the trucks.
