PRINCIPAL ATTENDED DAUGHTER'S ARRIVAL Prof. I"). Vv. Horton, principal of the high school, was scheduled to address the members of the department of literature of the Woman's club Monday afternoon. His subject was down in the year book as "Inventions." The address was to have commenced at 3:30, and by that time a large number of the members had assembled in the entertainment parlors of the Methodist Memorial, church. The principal is known to have some extremely radical views on the subject, and in eonsequence the attendance of women was larger than usually is the case at these meetings. The time for the meeting was up, hut the principal was non est. However, the audience good naturedly decided to give him 15 minutes' grace. At the end of that time he was still an unknown quantity, and an equal numher of minutes were again voted. The half hour had expired and still no Horton. During the wait there was much suppressed talk among the women, and it was finally decided to adjourn. Various reasons were advanced for the non-appearance of the pedagogue, but not one of them hit the mark. The mystery of the strange absence of the lecturer, however, was solved during the evening when the blame for the contretemps was all put on a bouncing baby girl which had arrived to Mr. and Mrs. Horton in the new maternity ward of the St. Joseph's hospital during the early hours of the evening. Congratulations were greatly In order around the Horton residence.
