A. gym, when the hiirh school quintet and the old boys of former days will engage in battle. The pame is Mire to develop into a close contest as both teams have a slight margin, the present tan and blue outfit having the edge, in that they have been playing together for the pa5t month, while the alumni boasts of an all-star team, experienced in every department of the game. LOU KING OF
TIE WORLD
Tommy Murphy Supplants Him as Best Money Getter Has Won Half a Million.
By Frank G. Menke. International News Service: NEW YORK, Dec. 31. Tommy Murphy ha j supplanted "Pop" Geers as "the king of reinmen" by his wonderful achievements during the 1915 trotting season. Murphy, by winning" $116, 5S6 this year, eclipsed the $116,370 record established in 19 C2 by Geers, and incidentally he set a mark for single season harness earnings that never may be eclipsed or equalled. of his winnings, Murphy secured $107,338 in regular purse events and only $i25o in special match races. Geers. in F.'02. won only $66,370 in regular races. The other money came when he piloted Lord Derby, 2:()" 3-4, to victory over Horalma. 2: on. in a $5 0,0 CO match race in Hartford. Murphy's phenomenal success on the turf during the past season was not surprising nor was there the slightest element of f.uke about it. For many years he has ranked among the greatest reinsmen in the world, and this year he jumped to the fore as the peer of them all. Won SÖIS.ÖS8 in 7 Years, Murphy's winnings in 1914 went above the $100,000 mark. His earnings for the seven-year period from 19C3 to 1915, inclusive, reach the
arnaing total of J54S.58S, an aver
age of nearly $80, C00 a year. Murphy's greatest coup this season was in San Francisco, where he gathered in S.26.200 during the campaign there. His next best winning was in Lexington, Ky., where he won $14,470. At Columbus he won $13,170. while, in Syracuse he took unto himself $9,027. His smallest winning was at Youngstown, O., where he earned $500 during the "minor league" meet staged there. Murphy's great record this year was made possible by the fact that he piloted the racing sensation of the year Peter Scott. 2:05 1-4 owned by Henry Oliver of Pittsburgh.

Ii;t i ! 'tiitn.tl Ni'w-s Servli-e : NEW YOKK, Dec. . The meanest man appeared here this week and probably would spend some time in Sing Sing or' Matteawan if the police could lay their hands on him. He threw a penknife with the blades open into the mouth of Miss Murphy, the big hippopotamus of the Central park menagerie. When Miss Murphy shut her ponderous jaws, expecting some luscious morsel, she gave a grunt of pain and a moment later spit out the .knife, covered with etmson. The meanest man escaped. Perhaps he is the same incredible being who recently, according to Head Keeper Bill Snyder, fed arsenic to the two last camels the menagerie possessed. Both died. If anything should happen to Miss Murphy it would be a serious blow net only to the little folk of the city but to the menagerie income. Despite her name, Mi sä Murphy is the wife of Caliph and every year bears him a fat, black little 250 pound baby, whose sale brings a goodly tum into the riunicipal coffers.
Mike Collins, Fulton's manager, is a man of ordinary size but is a yismy compared to the giant Fulton, sUi.. ius, beside him..
