Local authorities today were puzzled ovtT what action they should take? in the cane of AVilliam H. Wciboldt, the once prospcrous merchant, who disappeared nine years ago after a series f business reverses and a suspicious lire in Iiis stort. Wciboldt was found running a small delicatessen store in a poor neighborhood whcT-the penny purchases of negroes were the only contributions to hi? cash drawer. Soon after Weiboldt'a store was partially destroyed, and candle ends and kerosene were found scattered about the place. AVoiboldt's clothes and those of his daughter, Mi.-s Martha Wciboldt. were found on tho shore of Lake Michigan. A note in the merchant's handwriting told of his plans to end his life. Today the authorities learned of Weiboldt's existence and also learned that his daughter had married and niovpd to South Anurica, Frank J.
