FURTHER DECLINES Bulls Back Away in Face of Big Offerings From Northwest. Ily Joseph I. lritiiart. ,OH.(-GO. Oct. 21. Bis transfers in the wheat market of the country instead of remaining on the bull side of that rain with largely increased offerings by farmer and country- elevator concerns in the northwest backed away from the actual wheat and there were further price recessions in all positions. In addition to the continued luavv run of wheat in our own northwest.' the total being l.?2." cars compared with 792 cars a year ago. there were heavy receipts at Winnipeg, 1,064 cars and 2,2u0 cars are estimated for Thursday. There were only lfS cars received at Winnipeg a year ago. "Wheat at Chicago lost ll-2ifl3-4c and there were declines of 2fW2 1-Sc at Duluth. 2 1-ic at Minneapolis and 1-4 rn 1 c at Winnipeg. As for several previous days, considerable wheat was absorbed today in order to secure available profits. Had not this buying developed late Wednesday the reactions of rl 7-c would have been mifsing. The French government has again imposed a duty on wheat of 7 francs per quintal, or 100 kilos, which is approximately 220.4 pounds making the rate about "7 l-2c per bushel or the s-ane as the duty imposed before the war broke out. Considerable wheat was sold on this, as it was accepted as a bearish factor. Threshing operations are in full blast in the northwest which indicates a continuance of heavy receipts for some time to conie. Advices from Winnipeg' as well as from Minneapolis and Duluth favored the bear side of wheat as it is claimed that enormous quantities of this grain have already been made ready or are being made ready for delivery by fanners as well as oiintry elevator concern?. Conditions in the northwest are decidedly bearish, although exporters have doubtless bought considerable, wheat south of the international line and their purchases north of that line art; known to be the heaviest iti the history of Winiiip g. New York reported takinus there Wednesday of 1.2f0,000 bushels wheat for foreign shipment which was mainly Manitoba grain. Cash sals here amounted to only 1. "1.001) bushels. Corn was weak and 1-4 fi T.-Ne lower Wednesday em heavy selling by local traders whilte, tlie buying was led by those holding resting orders and local shorts. Cash corn In the western markets was unchanged to :!-c lower. . e - 0-00 bushels. The country shows no disposition to press sales of new corn. in
