Uy La Uacontcuse. Since golf is one of the most acce pted forms of outdoor .ports for women, it behooves each one to have an ap propriate costume fr that purpose. While many of the golf suits are still featured in mohair with wide circular skirt and norfolk coat, there are a nu mber of new and stunning models in angora wool and a nap finished jersey cloth. This is especially rich particularly in anv of the soft rose, gold, brown or blue tones. The model illustrated wa.s in a .soft rich tone of rose featuring a wide skirt, fastened in front with pearl buttons. The coat, b ox in effect, is rather mannish with narrow belt and patch pockets. A Hat revere collar and pearl buttons lend tho finishing details. The rolled brim felt sailor and heavy leather boots go well with this suit.

A stout woman can do many things that will make her appear more slender if .he will but study her lines a:: J spend a little time in experimentin;;. Of course, tirst of all, it is necessary for her to get a corset that best suits her liguro. Then her attention must be given to her underwear. This should lit well and be made without any extra fullness. As to the outer clothes, there Is much to be said about them. In the

first place, contrasting materials and colors should be avoided by the woman having a large figure. Big patterns or wide stripes are also to be shunned by her. A modest pin stripe can be worn, for it always looks neat and has a tendency to increase the height. It i.s noticeable that the ligure of a stout woman is inclined to curve in at the waist line and eonseuuently makes the hips and bust stand out prominently. To improve this condition it is advisable to make the bodice of a frock long, so that it Xalls over the hips, and thus forms an unbroken line.. No hard-and-fast rule can be laid down as to just how far down the bodice should reach. This musf be determined by the maker of tho dress. The jacket effects, so prominent this season, are splendid for carrying out the elongated blouse idea. Of course, the jacket should be shorter in front than in the hack. The bot tom of the jacket can be linished with a band of the material embroidered or braided or with a cording of the material. The stout woman should be slow to follow the short skirt fashion. She need not have her skirts extremely long; a happy medium can very easily be gained. Hats nave a great deal to do with a woman's appearance. There are stout women who look well in small, closefitting hats, while there are many others who look ridiculous in a hat of this description. Jn the latter case a hat with a medium sized brim should ho chosen. Jt is a mistake for the stout woman to wear a large hat. If tne trimming of tne hat is made to stand up the -wearer of the model will appear thinner and taller. Wings and loops of ribbon arc admirable for this purpose. If a wom.in of larffe dimensions is not able to decide for herself Just what is best for her, she should ob serve other stout women closely and see which styles look best on them and which are most becoming. One or two trips to a first class modiste will also prove a worth while invest ment, for in this way a woman can learn many things to her advantage. -4- t NEWS OF INTEREST TO POLISH CITIZENS -Jf -jl - SOCIAL i:VKXTS.
