MAYOR, COUNCIL ID
POLICE VISIT SHOWS Several of the Chance Games Are Closed-Owners Fail to Carry Out Instructions.
And the interests of Mishaxvaka ucrc .adly neglected; that is. with the xcci)tlon of the moral interest, and that wnf apparently well taken raro of. for taking the idlicial family, with Mayor Gaylor in th" lead, tho board of public safety, composed of Councilmen James Fhcsbro, J. H. Nettleton and Niks Lowman. the chief of police and Patrolmen Kerr, Turbush. Jarrett. Land is and Detectives Weaver and Potts, little of an immoral eharpoter was allowed at the Moos carnival Monday night, even though the Oriental beauties did their rtep and Viola, the "girl from the east that does that sensational, creepy, dreamy lance," were left to their own. Shortly after the arriv.il of Mayor Oavlnr and his party on the erround.. things heijan to hum, and It wasn't long before tho lijhta were flicked out all the way down the midway "f chance. UcinnninK with tho hoop name at the far end and taking them In order, all were Instructed to close, though not until each and every one had been given the official taboo from the mayor, for the chief H-rnied hardlj. capable of judKlnsr for himself, and on the occasion of closing a stand, the mayor was counseled. "It's a fierht for sore eye.:." paid one bystander, as he watched the Kilt and gold, hurry and scurry and watch and then suddenly dart off and become lost in the crowd, only to appear near
the family group and beckon with crooked linger to the mayor. After thin little vaudeville performance he would be 5een to approach an owner of an unlucky stand which had been "banned and barred." and in a loud voire and many wild gestures instruct the keeper to "cut it out." In most cases his orders were carried out without any demonstrations, but onco or twice tho operators were back at it fus soon as his back was turned, however, only to finally submit after threats. Outside of the chance midway not all of the stands were closed, only those that failed to observe Mayor Gaylor's Instructions of "value for value, and dlmo for dime" being placed under the ban. The cithers, which pave cigars and such things for tho nickels and dimes were allowed to ply tho stands. As the evening waned and waned, MISHAWAKA CLASSIFItO.
people begun to wonder "how about the dancing shows." However, thc,y wondered the evening away, and the wonderment increased as at a late hour the members of the council present and the ollicials of the Moose gathered in a group in front of the oriental .show and talked and argued and waved their arms and patted each other on the hack. Mayor Gaylor. when interviewed regarding the carnival, stated that a meeting of the lodge ollicials and the oi!icials of the carnival and the ollicials of the city would be held Tuesday morning and some decision reached as just how the place would be conducted during the remainder
the week.

Mr. Willett was greatly surprised with the test, and stated that he was pleased with the report that came back. This was the first test of milk made this year from local dealers. Mr. Willett in his tour of inspection and collection of samples was assisted by City Health Officer 1 1. K. Struhle. who stated that the test was the best ever made. EVANGELIST OPPOSED TO CHURCH FAIRS Evangelist Liu da answered many questions Monday night in th absence of Mr. Garnscy, xvho was unable to bo present at the meeting. He made it plain that he was opposed to church fairs, lotteries, festivals, card parties. etc. The.se, he said, belonged to the world and not to the Christian church. If people would spend the time in tho study of the Hible they spend in these things they xvould be more spiritual and the church would have more poxver te convert sinners. To the questions: "Is the lirst day the Lord's day and so the seventh day tho Jewish Sabbath?" the evangelist said: "There is not a text in all God's word that says the lirst day is the Lord's day. No text in all the Pible calls the Sabbath the Jexvish S'abbath."
Tonight the subject will be "The Seal of God vs. Man."
