It is truly interesting to see how electrical devices have been developed for household service from kitchen to attic. There is an astonishing list of utensils, cleaners and edher con
veniences which may be easily attached to the wall-plug and operated quickly and cleanly. The dining room claims a pood share of these appliances. There is the toaster s. ve, on which almost an entire meal can bo cooked riht at the table, if desired. The table grill is another compact electrical heater. A combination prill makes breakfast or luncheon easily possible on short notice. There is z. disc stove, or hot plate, upon which ur.y llat-bottomed saucepan rr dish car be quickly heated. combination dining room set includes a charing dish, double, boiler, samovar anil percolator, all heated from a single electrical unit. The ta'ole range is another cooker which handles several foods at once. Kettles for hot water, toasters lor the breakfast toast, egg boilers, individual ehaling dishes, water cups for heating small amounts ef water, immersion heaters for poaehinp ep'rs, and soup tureens for keeping the vup hot while it is being served, all can be attached directly at the table. For the kitchen the list is almost as long. The double boiler for cereals, the electric frying pan, tho wallle iron evenly heated by electrical means, the egg beat err which is such an improvement on the fork or the lian-l-turnod beater, and the plate ..rmer for keeping service china hot, all make kjtchen work a hundred per cer.t cleaner and cooler than it ever w.-:-. before. There is even an electric refrigerator on the. market now cold air being forced fan-fafchion through tho ie-cbox. An eleetrlo laundry Is conldered a great improvement. The electric washing machine is a saver of effort and time. In po the elothes, hot water is turned over them and the button is turned on. In 10 or 12 mlnute3 they are (lean, and after they are blued and rinsed. they are put throuph an electric wrinuer. They are pressed with an electric iron and in very large kitchens an electric dryer takes care of them in damp weather. For large institutions, such as hotels and clubs, the starch is cooked by electrical applicneos and the (dothes are mangled by the same means". Fleet rie cleaners are the most welcome aids to the housewife. The vacuum elcaner has come to stay now in most large homes. There is an electric lloor scrubber and polisher, too, and an electrically operated buffer wheel for polishing brass and silve r. lladiators which carry heat by electrical means are replacing steam and hot water in many homes. They are ideal for heating rooms quickly for a short time, such as extra guest rooms, bathrooms and the like. Elec
tric fans for the home are used more
and more, so that heating and cool
in are both accessible by pressing a
Mitt on nowadays.
In bedrooms and bathrooms the electric eonvonlenccs seem quite as numerous as those down stairs. A hot water heater, that can be attached to the faucet, will pivo 2V2 gallons of boiling water a minute when tho kitchen range is not at work. For the sewing room there is a pressing iren, shaped for dressmaking service, a fluting iron for making frills, and even the sewing machine itself runs noiselessly. A motor attachment makes any sewing machino a thing of comfort and speed. I-Vr these domestic services the cost iJ from 1-4 of a cent to 10 cents an Ii our.

Closing exercises for the Daily Vacation I?ihlc school, which has been conducted for the past two months with unusual success in the 1300 block on W. Washington av., will ta.ke place this evening at 7::J0 o'clock in the Hungarian Presbyterian church, corner Washington av. and Cherry st. All day I'riday an exhibit was held in the portable school building and in the 'church of a variety of articles which the 1 0 T children enrolled have made. The exhihit includes several hundred hammocks, ranging in size from doll hammocks to full sized, double knotted hammocks. which have been made since the opening of the school by the 45 buys in the upper class. The younger boys and girls have devoted their time to basketry and their work, which includes baskets of many sizes and shapes, makes an interesting display, though not more so than the w-ork of the sw ing classes. The class in household arts taught by Miss Dorothy Eldredg'. made aprons and caps, while the younger girls in the sewing class taught by Mrs. Lena Koekstroh and Mrs. J. M. Neidhardt made pretty dresses of white lawn with caps tr match. The kindergarten department also displayed its handiwork. The program this evening will Include a talk by I'aul McDonald, who has superintended the work of the school and a few remark? by T"r. C. A. I.ippineott. pastor of the First pfe'sbyteri in church and by Hov. Rela Hertok. pastor of the Hungarian Presbyterian church, and recitations and sons ny the children. The sch(d has been -oridurtfd under the auspices of the Presbyterian churches of the eity.
