Sueh was the essence of a talk which 1 heard the other night between a fatln r and son about the son going to college. I sympathized with both of them, and told them so. For the father was right in declining to send his boy to college, and upon the grounds which he Mated. Hut the father was not quite riuht in thinking that the boy was alwas going to be la?:y. "A very hard question to answer," I replied, "but, in general, add up all the necessary expenses, the fee for instruction, the cost of board, room, books, clothes, laundry and multiply the result by two. The sum will be a proper amount for a self-respecting, hard-working college man to spend. This should stand for efficient economy and economical eflioioney, equally remote from, on the one side, poverty and penuriousneRs. and, on the other, from extravagance and wealth."

FOUR GERMAN ARMY CORPS MOVING ON TO WARSAW
PF.TROORAD. Ju'y 16. Regarding the number of tr oa.s with which the
enemy has undertaken to advance towards the Narew it is believed the force cannot be less than four army J
corps. It is computed that on the sector of this front where tho impetus at the moment is greatest that is between Ciechanow and Przasnysz from two to two and a half German corps are operating. Well informed people here state that the withdrawal of the Russians to their second line in this area w:s carried out voluntarily and wn: not the result of the enemy's pressure. Warsaw no doubt is the ultimate objective of this move of the Germans, who are becoming rather sensitive on the subject of that city. In a leaflet issued to the army it is stated "for strategic considerations the occupation of Warsaw has been postponed." The German prisoners brought to KiTff are wearing a new pattern helmet entirely devoid of brass ornament. They say the old "piekelhn uben" ha.s been returned to be divested of tho metal parts which are needed for the manufacture of shells.
