PUBLIC UTILITY GO. ELECTS NEW OFFICERS Meeting Held in Mayor's ChamberMotion Adopted to Reduce Board of Directors to Five Members. The annual meeting of the Stockholders of the Mishawaka Public Utilities Co. was held Friday evening in Mayor Gaylor's chambers at the city hall. E. A. Jernegan took the chair in the absence of W. B. Hosford, who is attending the Panama exposition at San Francisco. Following a report submitted by E. V. Bingham, a motion was made and adopted to discontinue the board of directors, composed of nine members, and to elect a hoard to be composed of only live members in the future. The following were the live directors elected: Vincent Brnnner. Charles h'ldlich. J G. Pbcrhart. E. A. Jernegan and W. B. Hosford. Following the stockholders' meeting a session of the directors was convened and tho officers for the ensuing year elected a follows: V. II. Hosford. president; F. O. Kberhart, vice president; M. W. Mix, treasurer, ajid John J. Sehindler, secretary. According to the report of Treasurer Mix. $21,000 of the original $100,000 bond issue has been paid off and, deducting the $10,000 worth of unsold bonds leaves outstanding bonds to amount of $1 3,0 00. It. was agreed by motion to give the board of directors the power to dispose of the unsold bonds, to tho best, interests of the city. The organization of the Public Utilities Co., some 15 years ago, is responsible for Mishawnka's modern municipal departments, such as water works, including both the old plant and the splendid new plant, which will be opened in about 10 days, the fire and police protection and the city hall structure. Hammerschmidt. chairman of the municipal recreation committee, were the principal speakers at a meeting of 1J5 young Polish people at the Sample portable school Fridav night, when the Warsaw Civic olu' was organized. The new club will have charge of the Sample school playgrounds, in connection with which there arc juvenile athletics clubs, two junior indoor baseball team;, four volley ball teams and a number of ladies' athletic clubs. All of these clubs were organized through the efforts of Mis Eosa Krause, supervisor of the playgrounds. The grounds will be equipped next week with several types of children'? apparatus.
