STUDENTS GIVE RECITAL PuitiK of i:. I). LIo.mI Appear at Progress riuli IIot)in. Ilefore an audience that tilled Melville hall, the vocal students of K. I. Lloyd, organist and choirmaster of the First M. K. church, gave a most interesting recital Monday evening. The program was most diversilied. and retlc-cted great credit not only to the artists, hut also to Mr. IJoyd. Of special merit was the work ' f ('avail Jones, who succeeded Mr. Willing as basso in the First Presbyterfan church choir mid of Miss- ilwen Lloyd, whose piano solo was one of i.i - . i ... i . i me most, masieiiui numbers on uic program. All through tho program the careful training of Mr. Lloyd was very much in evidence, the shading and enunciation being abo c the aragc. The concert was specially interesting due to the fact that Mr. IJoyd has hail his class for only five months-, this being tho first recital for a number of the students. BECKER DECISION TO BE GIVEN THURSDAY (iorrnor to las on Appeal That Witnesses He iiven a Chance ii Revise Stories. NFAV YOUK. Juno 20. Charles Pecker received word from Jov. Whitman through Atty. Martin T. Manton Momlay tliat a final decision would be given on Thursday to the request that Jack Hose and Uridgey Weber be afforded an opportunity to reverse their original testimrny. Fnder the sentence of the courts. Pecker will have hut ten days to live if the governor refuse. the appeal. It is now certain, however, that all plans have been completed to carry the light to the Fnited States supreme .ourt. This move will be accomplished by 'rst applying to the federal district court for a writ of error w hich will act as a stay of execution. Success In obtaining a writ of error will probably mean a delay of more than six months in the final disposition of the case as the. supreme court will ho in recess until fall. i im: i i:th i:i:." Fugene Walter's stage p'ay. "Fine Fcatheis." has brcn .lone in film form and is being shown at tli Audtori'im today. Tli" author made a s'lcees. "f the- original p several popular ece. w hich was on I dramatic works. izPaid in rul!." 'The Easiest a and -The Wolf. Janet P.eecher is the central rigurc of the him play. She plays the part of it voting woman who is dlscontent'd with her lot in life: yearns for tine feathers; obtains them by dishonorable means, has a brief career of glitter and glory; and then suffery retribution in eompany with her weakling of a husband who connived at her social exaltation and sulleied with her in her fall. The story is a tine one. it is a moral one, it is a lesson and a warning. And it is worked out with great dramatic skill. FvcLvthing that happens in the photoplay is what you might expect to happen in real life when two young people deliberatt ly start in to live hcond their means. One of the most impressive parts of this picture Is that showing the burst-! ing of a dam and the Hooding of the j surrounding country. The cause oft this was an inferior kind of cement' for width the seeker of iine feathers; was responsible: she persuaded her' husband to accept a nefarious propo- . sition from a illainous man who: would make money out of supplying a j poor kind of cement instead of a good ' one. j Fach person attending the Audi- j toMinn tomorrow will receive a photo graph of Charley Chaplin. AT Till: LASALLi:. "rh Wild ioose chase" is the forepart feature ut' the Lasalle's program today. Inu Claire, a former musical comedy favorite, is the principal player. Her state success has litted her admirably for tilm work, and is nowpronounced one of the handsomest, as well as- youngest studio stars. In this picture a delightful story of romance and adventure is interwoven with laughable comedy scenes behind tlu curtain line in a tank-town the ater, lieftv anl ('.ill. lia.. twver met! hut tin if idd guardians had planned that they should marry. They rebel and run away, poth join the same small-town show troupe playing "Itome and Juliet." They fall in love, under lictitious names, and when the show goes broke and they have to walk home, they are delighted to Jind that it was intended they should marry. They do. Many comedy scenes are shown "behind the svencs." Theodore Pobcrts, the splendid character actor. Tom Forma n and an excellent company are in the support. Besides this feature a roaring comedy. "Mumps." will be shown. It is suflicient to say that everybody in the picture gets 'em. Also an Animated Weekly of current news events, including exclusive war pictures from L'urope. Wednesday's special feature is "Wormwood," a live part picture from Marie Corcili's powerful story and a companion to "A Woman's Resurrection" and "The Clemenccau Case." Few more vivid and brilliant writers than Marie Core Hi ever lived. She possesses a peculiaily vital, pungent style which has made her books among tho most popular of the day. They have been translated into practically every language and eagerly read from Harrisburg to Hong-kong and back again. The atmosphere of mystery in which Miss Corelli has always elected to envelop herself has excited much public interest in her personality. Hft the author has not chosen to gratify this curiosity to any great extent. She is, according to herself, of mingled Italian and Scotch parentage. She was adopted in her early infancy by Charles? Alackay. an Knglish song-writer of some note ami received her early education in Kngland. After reaching young womanhood she was sent to a convent in France. Here .she developed a taste for music and old hook collecting which has remained with her through life. CAUMVAL MONDAY. A big gala week is promised for the Loyal Order of Moose, No. ."."r. and their friends at Baker field. W. Washington st., beginning next Monday. M. B. Golden, special representative of the Butherfortl Greater Shows, which will furnish the attraction, said today: "The Rutherford O renter Shows' is a new departure in the out-door amusement field and is not to be confused with the ordinary carnival organizations. This is the age of progress and keeping abreast of the times the Rutherford shows represent an entirely new and different form of amusement. "Recreation is as vital to the people as the clothes they wear or the food they eat. The Rutherford show? have brought into conjunction attractions of a novel and superior nature. The public is tired of the old time humdrum carnival shows. This company is not traveling on a past reputation, as it Is practically a young organization, but are gaining many laurels on a new one which we are establishing. "I have been identified in various capacities with a number of America's leading amusement enterprises, but I am frank to say that never have I been in a position to promise and deliver to the people entertainment of such a superior c haracter as is provided by the Rutherford Greater Shows, our special train of i'0 cars is fitted up with all modern conveniences, no pains or experts have been spared in looking after the comfort of the hundreds of individual? who appear in our exhibitions.'
