A few night later, a mysterious thief enters the woman's apartment, binds f.nd gags her and then departs with the gems. When Mrs. duett's maid discovers her mistress plight the following Rlake is summoned and he tinds a black robe similar to the one the thief wore, in the maid's room, but Mrs. Cluett refuses to have the maid arrested. The man's bandaced hand irouses the detective's suspicions n.nd they speedily unmask him as the real thief. AT Till: OKPIIEUM. It will exhaust the list of adjectives of the average theatrical writer to de scribe in detail the manv excellent features of Gus Edwards' sontr revue now playing at the Orphcum. The entertainment is such a change from the average musical comedy, the company is made up of bright, talented youngsters who have been well trained and the program consists almost entirely of popular song numbers, attractively gowned misses, mischicvious boys and a few with older voices blend harmoniously in the catchy choruses. They romp on hay rides, in pajamas they sing goblin songs ami at the Pan ama exposition they appear as sailor lads and lassies. The impersonations of little Georgie, the acting of "Cud dles" and dancing of Marguerite Dana stand out in the wealth of juvenile material. While the performers are young it is a grown-up show they give and the increased attendance appar ently justifies the management of the Orphcum keeping open an additional week. AT TIIH UXSALLK. Tho Lasallo shows today one of the feature films of the season, "The Plunderer," taken from Roy Norton's story of the Alaskan gold fields. William Fa mum is the featured member of the cast and dainty Claire Whitney, Harry .Spindler, and Flavia Arcara. . the latter formerly of South Rend. It is said that this Is the most daring picture of the far north ever taken for the screen. Actual elanger was faced by the players and many scenes of the thrilling mining story were acted in a real gold mine. In the first place it was obviously impossible to make the screen version In an active mine so an abandoned "Bonanza" had to be found in the ( form of the "Tip-Top mine, once a famous "location" on the "mother lode," but long since abandoned. .ir.
