Discussion of a garnishee law to come before the state legislature at
its next meeting was on the boards at a meeting of the Grocers' and Imtchers' association at the Jaeobson, Peterson, Peltz and Kaufer wholesale house on College st. Monday night. Causes of the failure of other similar hills which have come before tho law markers from time to time were discussed and plans for remedying them were considered. It Is probable thut at tho next meeting of the organization which will be held July 12 with William A. Flagle. 1S11 S Michigan st., tha.t some detlnite action will bo decided upon. Tho annual picnic of the organization will bo held this year on July 2S, according to arrangements made at the meeting last night. Michigan City was decided upon as the place of the picnic and the committee will set about making arrangements for the transportation of the- largo crowd which will probably attend. Evenyear nearly 1.200 people go on the picnic of the organization. Solomon Kox, A. S. Bueholtz and Harry D. Peftley were reelected to act as directors for three vears. W. B. Flndlator and K. R. McLaughlin were elected to membership in the organization. On July 5 tho stores will keep open until noon. As tho Fourth comes on Sunday tho men decided to tako a half holiday on tho next day. The proposition to close the stores all day was voted down. Following the business meeting a social session was enjoyed and short talks were mad by the hosts of the evening, Messrs. Pelts, Kaufer and Jacobson. Responses were made by C. B. Brodbeck and Dan Pyle.

Among the new improvements installed in the new Doddridge barber Fhop on W. Washington a v. is that of telephone service in every one of its eight chairs. The telephone is brought to the man who receives a call while he is in the chair receiving the service of one of the barbers. Mr. Doddridge stated that he had attempted to install one of the finest barber shops in tho state, and he claims that it is the most luxurious, cleanest, and most sanitary shop in South Bend. The fixtures axe of tho highest class material. Mr. Doddridge stated that ho would be glad to receive the patronage of all his customers before tho changes in the shop, and would be pleased to have calls from .all persons interested In his new venture.

Suit for $2, (KM) damages for alleged breach of contract was brought In the circuit court Monday afternoon by William Bowers and other against Mary K. "Cilery and others. It is alleged that tho plaintiffs leased a G0acre farm In liberty township from the defendants for a term of eight years and that tho defendants contracted to furnish horses and machinery' with which to work tho farm but that they have failed and refused to furnish the horses and machinery and are now trying to oust tho plaintiffs from the farm. The plaintiffs are represented by Slick & Curtis and G. II. Case.

Elsa Manza tiled suit against George Strauss in the circuit court Monday afternoon to recover $200 damages. The plaintiff says that she had given no cause for such treatment and that she had rented the rooms for an indefinite period at a certain amount per week.
