Mr. Garrison said that the question had not yet reached him as to vhether the arm.v posts on the frontier were to be utilized in connection with the distribution of lied Cross supplies for Mexico.

ROM R, June 4. It was oflicially announced Thursday by patroal boats whieh have just returned from the northern Adriatic report that IM hours after the bombardment of Monfalcone sreat clouds of smoke and tongues of flames could be seen over the city. This naturally leads to the. impression that the damage wrought was greater than at first believed. The Italian bombardment of Monfalcone took place on Monday and was directed asainst the Austrian ship yards located there, although the city, two miles inland, apparently has suffered serious damage. The report of the patrol boats was confirmed by warships that arrived Thursday. Off Trieste, only a few miles from tho scene, the. Greek steamship Virginia struck a mine and was destroyed. The crew with the exception of two members, was rescued before the vessel sank.

I,onpo:;, June 4. An Athens dispatch, via Rome, states that Bulgaria is concentrating un army on the Turkish frontier. This has occasioned great alarm in Constantinople with tho result that troops in lare numbers are being recalled from the Gallipot! peninsula and rushed to Adrianople and Kirk-Kilisseh to meet eventualities that are anticipated in that quarter in consequence of the threatening aspect on the Bulgarian frontier.

A Welland (Ontario) man sought to enlist, but was refused because he had on each foot what is called a "hammer toe." He promptly paw a doctor, had the toes amputated and was accepted.

LONDON'. June 4. The press bureau publishes at the request of tho Belgian legation a report on the suppression of the Belgian Bed Cross committee by the German governor general of Brussels on April 14. Th German mandate directed the dissolution of the committee and ordered that the funds and archives of the Bed Cross society be handed to the German officer designated.

The decree further notified ths com-

mlttee that military force would be called upon to execute the decree if nectssary. The Belgian government joins in the common protest that the international committee of the Bed Cros at Geneva made against this arbitrary measure, which, it says, it is contrary to international law.
