FRIDAY BRINGS WARMTH AND THUNDER SHOWER Friday failed hy two degrees of being the warmest day of the year hut it can have the honor of having ireught forth the first thunder shower of the year. Friday was truly a spring day, but, as a matter of fact official record shows that the highest point that the the rmometer reached on that day was only 71 degrees whereas on the preceding day the mercury rose to 70 degrees. A fall of 20 degrees was all that was recorded during Thursday night nnd the prospects Friday night were that the benign spring atmosphere would prevail for several days i without interruption. Although the rainfall of I- riday amounted to but little, yet it was cljse to half the amount of rainfall elurlng the month of March. March went ' down as the dryest March In many years, the rainfall bring onlv 41 hundredths of an inch and of this amount 22 hundredths fell during the early days of the ninth. The rainfall Friday was 15 hundredths of an inch. Although the ground at present is too dry for the best growth of crops the farmers are encouraged l-y the fact that the weather is n.e.t interrupting the work ejf plowing. Wit n the prospects e f planting being completed when the late spring rains come the prediction of bumper crops seems well lounded.
