Arrangements for the annual banquet of the St. Joseph County Medical society to be held at the Oliver hotel March 17 at C o'clock, were made last night at the regular meeting of the society in the medical room of the

public library. The members will be present with their wives and invited guests. The following is a part of the program to be given: "A Hone Graft," by Dr. It. H. Dugdale; "Nothing at All," by Dr. Charles T. Hansel; vocal selections will bo rendered by Dr. F. I. Kastman and Mrs. Deverett Frash will give a reading. Dr. C. C. Terry will act as toastmaster. At the business meeting last night the discussion on intestinal statis was continued and F. I. Kastman gave a talk on "Mechanical and Diathetic Treatments". A talk on "Surgical Treatment" was given by Dr. Charles Stoltz.

NEW YORK. March 10. Oscar Ilammerstein, the impressario, is lying in a serious condition at St. Luke's hospital following an operation performed by Dr. Henry O. IUigbee Tuesday morning for glood poisoning In his left leg. A bulletin issued at the hospital Tuesday night stated that Mr. Ilammerstein was then resting comfortably and his condition was good. Worry over the death of his three sons and his age he Is f.C have gravely accentuated the conelltion of Mr. Ilammerstein and may greatly affect the chances of his recovery.
