The passing of Kichenlauh from Notre Dame athletics recalls to nvnd the wonderful achievements of the big fellow on the gridiron for the past four years-. Last year, Kichenlaub was cho'n as second AllAmerican fullback by Walter Camp and was nearly a unanimous choice for the All-Western position. He was one of the main cogs which made the lfl.. team the greatest in the history of Notre Dame. Kichenlaub was kept out a number of games last fall by an injury, but in the last two games, those with Carlisle and Syracuse, he cam1 back in srreat form and his line plungin-; was a feature of loth contests. "Mich" also has a lasting reputation as a weight man. being one of the best shot putters in the west. In the meet with the Illinois Athletic club last Saturday, he grabbed off third place in the shot put.

NEW YORK, Feb. 10. There seems to he little chance of Ed Rarrov.-s pet scheme to transfer his Jersey City International league club to the Bronx poing through. Pres't Harry Hempstead of the Giants announced Tuesday night after the National league meeting at the Waldorf had adjourned until Wednesday morning that he would not stand for the invasion by the minor outfit. Mr. Hempstead claims that the New York club has spent thousands of dollars in baseball and that their territory rights must be respected .and protected. The International league president sent a letter to the National league moguls and this was read at the meeting Tuesday. No action was taken, the. matter being tabled until Wednesday's session. Mr. Hempstead's stand which he announced later in the evening, however, puts the kibosh on Barrows' plans. Federate Get Ilusy. Federal league representative, who are in the city, when they learned of Mr. Hempstead's decision immediately began burning up the wires to headquarters and it was rumored late in the evening that the Federal league would surely Invade the Bronx. It is barely possible that both Newark and New Yorlc will possess franchises in the ."outlaw" organization the coming season. Without adopting the schedule for the coming playing season, the. magnates adjourned at 5:15 o'clock. The schedule, however, is sure to be adopted as it has been drafted by the special committee. Although the Giants were strong for having the player limit raised to 22 men, it was voted down. Only 21 players to a team will stand. However, the date for this limit was changed from May 15 to Sept. 15, to May 1 to Sept. 15. The rule also provides that if a manager of any team goes in a.s a pinch hitter or takes any other part in tho playing of a game, he vill be counted as one of the 21 players. Tener Gets Three- Weeks Off. The magnates voted to give. f-x-Gov. Tener. its president, a three weeks' holiday in order that he may accept the appointment from the new governor of Pennsylvania to go to San Francisco next month and help to dedicate the Pennsylvania building at the Panama exposition. The following umpires were signed: Emslie, Eason, Hart, Byron. Quigley and Orr. George Cockrill. manager last year of the Harrishurg Tri-state league team, was selected and signed as a substitute umpire. Charles Rigler. one of last year's staff, has not been signed to date. The raising of the draft rules in class AA baseball organization was not discussed Tuesday, but will be taken up at Wednesday's session. Waiving Compulsory. Magnates Herrmann, Britton and
