DAYS FOR EXAMS Say Tests Are Too Grilling For One Day's Work an Object to Repeating.

i-MUith I lend teachers feel that one day is not suilicient time in which to take a teacher's examination; furthermore, they feel that it is not fair to make a candidate who fails in one or two subjects ko back over the entire examination. They went on record to this effect Tuesday afternoon when they adopted a resolution at the meeting of the South F.cnd Teachers' federation. To remedy the present conditions the teachers want a law passed by the present legislature extending the ex

amination time to two days and providing that any teacher who fails in one or two subjects be made to take over only those subjects in which he fails. The resolution adopted by the federation will be sent to one of the county representatives at the capital to be incorporated in a bill. The law now gives only one day in which to tauo an examination and piovides that if a teacher fail in only one subject, he must tro bac k at the next examination and take over the entire

list of questions. The teachers hold J

that to take an examination as is now given is a grilling affair and oftentimes demands some extensive thought, if nee the time is limited to one day many teachers are forced to hurry, with the result that tlicy ofte ntimes fail in one branch or other in which they would under more extended conditions have passed. Ilelative to the second part of the, teachers' resolution the law provides that if an applicant fail in any one branch at the examination, the whole examination is disqualified and the applicant must take It over. This the teachers want changed so that they may retake only that branch in wh-ch they failed.
