Board of Works Still Debating on Michigan St. Improvement Resurfacing of Street to Come Up Tuesday. Although no definite action ha.s lC'cn taken By tho. board of works on tho proposed construction of the Michigan ?t. sower. Pres't E. M. Morris believes that the work will he deferred at least several months. Since the mass meeting; held several nights ago the matter lias been informally discussed by the board, according to Mr. Morris, hut no decision has as yet been reached as to plans for the future. "Juduin? from the attitude of the people at the mass meeting the time is not yet ripe for the construction of the sewer and the placing of now pavement," said Mr. Morris last night. "This is only my personal opinion and I am not speaking for the board of works as a whole. It is probable that the work will be deferred until during the latter part of the summer or perhaps for a year. The people seem to think that under the existing; business conditions the construction of tho sewer and pavement would not lie advisable at this time. Also some believe that trade on Michigan st. would be hindered if the work was in progress during the spring months. "It is my opinion that material for both the street and the sewer improvements could be secured cheaper now than within a few months or a year, and this is one of the reasons the board felt it advisable to start the work at this time. Xo doubt tho Michigan st. sower could bo used longer but we are all agreed that there is a necessity for a new pavement in the business district. The matter will probably come up for discussion at the board meeting Tuesday and some definite action taken at that time. Many of those who first Objected to the improvement have changed their attitude and favor the proposition." Mr. Morris also stated that the boanl has received expressions from many interested persons, both for and against the construction of the sewer.
