Picking the greatest pair of keystone kings has always been a favorite sport with baseball fans and every few years has produced a new pair who were held to be the best ever. Not so many years ago it was Joe Tinker and Johnny Kvers who were given the crowns. This was back in the days when the Cubs were in their prime. These two men grabbed practically everything that came their way and appeared to be one machine. They seemed to

! know the other was waiting for the

play and "Tinker to Kvers to Chance" became one of baseball's classics. Then the Cubs mixed it with the Athletics and lost. Then fans began noting the playing of Collins and Harry They were declared by many to be the greatest pair ever developed. Their work was brilliant and had

J With the encouraging cheers of th

entire student body ringing in thir ears, the members of the Notre Dame football team left South Bend at 10:2 o'clock this morning for NewHaven, Conn., in a special car. where they will clash with Yale in what pronnses to be one of the gre.itOjk tn-ter-sectlonal battles ever staged on a:' gridiron. The students gave the Fquad a rousing sendoff on the Notre Damo campus. There was cheering and singing, mingled with the strains of the Notre Dame military band. Newwords have been composed for a pong, especially for the occasion. I'nder the leadership of Cheer Trader Jo Gnrgen. the students gave one of

1 the greatest farewells to a team in the

history of the local school. The tenrn was taken to the depot In automobiles'. Coaches Harper and Ho. kne hurl.Ml their men through the final home drill before the big eastern game on Cartier tield yoterday afternoon. Therewas no scrimmage. It was a general "brushing up", that was given the varsity. Mcmi in Good Shai The local athletic heads have b f t no stones unturned, no loop holes open in their endeavors to hae the blue and gold in the best possible condition for the game. Things looked gloomy a few days ago with several 0 the stars: on the hospital hst. but the majority are acain in irood shape. Bruises have b en tenderly cared tor. even "charle -horses" have receiyi d unusual attention in the efforts of th i oaches to have the men in good phsieal condition. The last two weeks of practice have been perhaps the most strenuous in ears. The men have been kept constantly on the go, Kfforts have been made to remedy every weakness and it appears that the conches are ready to reap the benefits of their hard program. All four of the former cripples will be in the game. Fiehenlaub, Keefe. Iithrop nnd Bachman. four towers of strength, are on the mend and will be in the lineup when the whistle blow s. The llneun of the Notre Dame team when the Yale panic starts will be as follows: Klward. le; Jones, capt.. Since the game was scheduled last spring, the eyes of all the football world have been looking forward with eagerness to the coming Notre DameYale clash. It will be u tet of e. '.stern football against western football, for it will be a great eastern team against a gntnt western team in Saturday's game. Last year. N'otr Dame invaded the east with great success, beating both West Point ami 1'er.n State on their home groumls. in less than a week's time. The Notr Dame team awoke eastern critics with a start at its wonderful exhibition of the open game in the West Point clash. Beports from the east are to the effect that ld Fli is represented by one of the strongest teams in years. At the same time. newspaper dispatches declare that numerous injuries have weakened the Yale lineup. Coach Harper and his nu n. however, are prepare,! to meet Ynle at it strongest. Besides the coaches, the following men will be taken on the trip to Yale: Capt. Jones. Keefe. Lathrop. Fitzgerald, Bachman. Ward. Sharp, Holmes. Yoelkers. H. "Donnell. Berg man. Cofall. Fichenlaub.
