Haute. It will be the last chance that the fans will have of seelnc the grold and blue in action before the Yale and South Dakota games, both of which will be plaved away from home. Practically all of this week, the practice sessions on Cartier field have been In secret, so the hungry fans have had to content themselves with waiting until today's g-ame. There was an unusually large crowd at the Alma pa me. despite the fact that it was an unimportant pame and so early in the season and it is expected that today's crowd will be considerably larger. The Notre Dame line up as the team will start the pame will be as follows: Klward, le; Jones, Capt., It; Stephan, lp; Fitzgerald, c; Ward, rp; Holmes or Sharp, rt; Mills, re; Cofall, qb; Finepan. lhb; Pliska, rhb; Dupgan. fb. Messick of Indiana will be referee, Dunbar of Yale will be umpire and Fdwards will be head linesman. A large number of substitutions probably will be made by CoaTh
Pachman will be out of the pame at j

nne of the strongest high school combinations yet tried will be started against the Gary sipiad by Conch Metzler this afternoon at Fprinpbrook park. Metzler believes that his men will have to exert themselves to the limit to defeat the Caryites, a.s the visitors will undoubtedly use the same style of plays and formations as the locals. Their coaches, Pritrgs and Caldwell, received their instructions under the same man that Metzler did. Capt. Whiteman has been playing like a Mend at center this week and will be in that position when the game starts. Elbel and Nelson will see service at guard, with Hagerty and Stanley working at th" tackle position.-. Sullivan will be used at one end and either Poswell or J Meyers at the other. Boswell may be used at full back during part of the game, where he is as adept as when performing on the extremities of the line. Three men prohaidy will he used by Metzler at quarter. Fernandez is the regular man and will start the game in that position. Seott may le used there during part of the game and there is an excellent chance of Anderson, star quarter on the seconds, getting into action. Wolf will work
at right half, Scott or I.wr at li
half and Carlield or Boswell at
back. The pame wa.s schedule for 5:15 on account of the world ?or1ti pame. This allowed the playem and the fans to see most of the, g&mo and pet out to the park In time.
