ENTERTAIN AT SHOWER IN HONOR OF BRIDE-TO-BE The Misses Henrietta I.eker and Clara t.'rhanick on Tuesday evening pleasantly entertained ;l nirnber of j-'irl friends at the formers home, tpji S. Spring st. The affair was in the nature of a miscellaneous shower r.nd "was in lionor of Miss Mary I)rcker, who will soon he united in marriage to Herman Xchmitt of this city. The interior of the residence was prettily decorated with ferns and fall Powers;. Miss I decker was the recipient of a number of pretty presents. A mock wedding was one of the chief features of the evening. Miss (loldie Snyder acted as the groom, LMiss Vada Peters as the bride. Miss Orpha Graves as the best man, and Miss Clara Frhnnick as the bridesmaid. Miss Babe Bowers was the clergyman and the Mendelssohn wedding march was played by Miss Hmenecker. Contests were, also enjoyed. In a throwing contest Miss Kuth Melure was awarded the lirst favor and Miss Orpha l J raves won the consolation awards. A jut; contest furnished much merriment and Miss Buth McCluro was successful in winning the jirize. A tine luncheon was served. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE THAMKS ALL HELPERS The executive committee of the Mishawaka country fair on Wednesday issued the following signed statement: "C. 1j. Powell, i'.orist, will gie a large bouquet of carnations to the prettiest country girl at the fair. "A prize of 2." pounds of calf meal will be donated by W. Kouch to the farmer who husks half a bushel of corn in the shortest time. This contest will take place on the band stand Friday at p. in., and is limited to four entries. Through the kindness of Met-srs. P.ordner, Hepler and Hrother Leo, we will have an exhibit of legumes, etc., which are used in .-4oil fertilizing. This will be a larger and most instructive exhibit and will be In charge of the itbove gentlemen who will explain the value of the exhibits, and will give interesting: and instructive talks to the farmers during tht fair. "All products and exhibits should be plainly marked with the name of the owner. Our judges are from a distance and will therefore give an impartial judgment on all exhibits that come before them. "We are indebted to the Improved Order of lied Men, Mishawaka Tribe ::i4, John 15ordner, Cleorge Hepler, Hrother Leo of Notre Dame, W. F. Wallach of The News-Times and Miss Grace King for the aid they have given us in making the arrangements for this fair. Kennedy, who have had the arrangements of Thursday evenings parade in hand, stated Wednesday that everything was proceeding finely and that there would be many attractive features in the procession. Several places were assigned in the parade Wednesday to South Hend merchants. WORKMEN ARE BURIED WHEN WALLS CAVE IN Three men barely escaped beingsulfocated shortly after noon Wednesday when the walls of a well at the Kamm : .Sehellinger brewery in which they were woroking, caved in. The men were Edward Stein, Harvey Frick and (Jeorgc toeckinger. They were buried under the dirt for a short time before men in the vicinity discovered the accident. The funeral of Wallace Todd, 935 S. Seventh St., was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the River Park M. E. church. The W. O. W. had charge of the funeral. Rev. Charles C. Ford officiated. Burial was in Riverview cemetery; Funeral services for "Mrs. Anna Andrews, 946 S. Eleventh st, was held from the residence Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. A. C. Ormond of Mishawaka officiated.
