Atonement .lav was observed Vcds.sday among the Jewish peoplo of South B-nd with special services. At Temple lbth-Bl M-rvir-s w-r held in ihe morning, when Kabbi Cronbach prear hf-J .'in able sermon on the signilkanee of-the day. "Ator.mtrit day," he said in part, 'P.iks to us of purity and sinb-ss-It speaks to us o: the 'loo divine that will not let us 40.' Jt Kj'f-al;s to us of immortality. 'O grave whf-re is thy vbtory, O death where i thy Ming! Atonement -lay says that, although it us-s a dii trent laujjuaire. "Atonement day suggests ii.'it ?nerely the curing of sin. hat also the proenting of sin. Here as ev rywh'To the ounce of prevention is. worth more than the pound of eure. m Friday we shall have a Disease Prevention day. Would that we could havo a sin prevention day. Would that we might have a day, not so much for the remission or forgiveness of sin as a day for the pre v nt ion of sin, a day or which attention could he given to the social and Industrial ami intellectual and physical causes of sin. "Yes, physical cause! Examination has shown tiiat a large percentage of persons ronvkted in the law courts have som thing wrong with their bodies. Adenoids and hroken foot arches are the causes of more rnsealltv than you or I have any idea. iet Duty Habit. "PJghtcousne- may riot have the power to postj t bath. In fact, i ihteousness f elimes hastens d ath. as in th. . cases where people, give uj their lives for others or saeri!".ce themselves for a cause. Rut righteousness may do something b"tter than defer death. Kit: hteousness will remove the terror of death. Oct the duty habit and you will bse the trembling habit. i.ive for duty. Keep your mind on duty and you will 1-e too busy to hae .any fears and to: preoccupied to have any terrors. "it Is upon us to confess not only our own sins. The sins of others also belong to us. Individual guilt is not the only kind of guilt. There is also such a thing as social guilt. The social distortions that supply the jails and brothels, tlm.-'e of us who are net In the Jails and brothels havo part in those distortions. On Atonement day T repent not merely for my own sins but for the sins of every convict and every murderer and every fallen w ornan. Virt Se.Ucc TuclftT. The first Atonement dny services v. ere held last flight at Temple I'.ethl"A, Kabbl t'ronbaeli speaking on the subject. "Higher Yet and Higher". He explained the sign !i ance of Atonement day and held that sin need not hj made a drag stone. In part he raid : "it is not only sorrow that can be m. stepping stone to higher things, .in also can be a stepping stone to higher things. That is what Atonement (l.i.v is for. Y children of our Heavenly Father heed not suffer our sin to bn a drag stone into the depths. Wo can make of our sin a stepping stone into the heights. "How do this. I must bring in now an idd fashioned word. But there is none other. 'Repentance' is that word. A sin repented is a stepping stone. A sin wnrepented is a dratr stor.e. The dinner w ho is racked, with remorse over his sin, is nearer to A'oodness than the person who sets in himself nothing about which to feel any remorse. "i'io re is mote joy in heaven over one sinner which repenteth than oer ninety and nine just men which need no repentance.' This is the way the Talmud puts the identical thought: 'In the place where the repentant sinner stand the perfectly righteous are unable to stand." All Arc Sinners. "All of us are sinners. There is more badness in every one of us than the tom;ue can tell. We claim to believe In freedom of speech. What hypocrisy! There are not 1 people in a hundred who truly believe in freedom of speech unless we are the speakers or as lonur as those that do the speaking agree with us or fatter us. Hut let a person say something that displeases us and woe unto him! "Then we complam that people are not candid and truthful and sincere.
If ou want plenty of thick, beautiful, glossy, silky hair, do by all means get rid of dandruff, for it will starve your hair and ruin it if you don't. It doesn't do much good to try to bru.-h or wash it out. The only "way to get rid of dandruff is: to dissolve It, then you destroy it entirely. To do this, get about four ounces of ordinary liquid arvon: apply It at night when retiring; use enough to moistja the scalp and rub it in gently with the linger tips. By morning most. If not all, of your dandruff will be gone, and three or four more applications will completely dissolve and entirely destroy every single sign and trace of it. You will find, too, that all itching and digging of the scalp will Mop, and your hair will be silky, fluffy, lustrous, soft and look and feel a hundred times better. You can get liquid arvon at any drug store. It Is Inexpensive and four ounces is all you will need, no matter how much dandruff you have. This simple remedy never fails.
