LONDON'. Sept. 10. Mrs. Perry Belmont reached London after a rather exciting trip from Switzerland where she had been held up since the outbreak of the war. From Thurn, where she spent most of August, Mrs. Belmont went to Geneva and there took passage on a special train which started for Paris, Sept. 1. W. A. Clark of New York, Judge Scudder of New York and George Elrich, a banker, of Hartford, were Mrs. Belmont's co-travelers. When Mrs. Belmont reached the frontier she spoke German jokingly in the presence of French soldiers and she was immediately arrested as a spy. After proving she was an American she was released.
