It looked as if tinhears had plaed that side of the market t a standstill until such time as conditions in the sprimr wheat country heroines more lavorahle if they are to change in that direction. One of the h-.t crop experts traveling out of 'hicai?o reiterated the claim made for several days o'f losses hy black rust and blight in i'ctions of the Dakotas. These reports were given considerable attention as well n credence. They ( laimed that deterioration has been marked in some factions and that former estimates must be reduced in order to get near the actual result. Producers of grain in the actions of the spring wheat country where deterioration has been pronounced say the losses have been caused by blight and not by black ruxt; that the latter exist in many f-ections, but that 'lie plant is too far advanced for the dread disease to do a great deal of damage. As an offset to the damage claims s coming out of the spring wheat country are the threshing returns from the .state of Kansas. Messages received hire Tuesday said that the yields there arc ranging fromvl'.O to iO bushels per acre anil that forty bushels is not an uncommon yield. The opinion is volunteered by some of the Lest Judges of the southwest that the total winter wheat crop will -xceed all former estimates and that it will continue to be taken in liberal quantities by exporting countries because of its most excellent quality. Corn wa.s irregular and unsettled, with prices l-Sc lower to 1 -4 ."- higher. Conditions in the corn belt varied, .Some sections reported prospects, as good, while others claimed that rains are needed. Oats were 1-8 t l-4c higher on Sej. tember and December and unchangei for July and May. The market was active with shorts in the lead as buyers. The weakness in lard was the feature as well as the factor in the provision market. It was the controlling Influence and caused the entire list to ease off somewhat. Close.

WANT LONGER POLES USED IN SOUTH BEND

Would AM in Moving Small Houses. Petition Tablet! Indefinitely.

Owing to the fact that South land's building code is stilt in the making", a petition presented by Crawford Staples, a house moving contractor, at the committee of the whole meeting Tuesday night, was tabled indefinitely. The building code came up for discussion at the council committee meeting but nothing definite was done. Mr. Staples' proposed ordinance provides for a bill compelling the telephone, telegraph and lighting companies to use longer poles for stringing their wires. This would allow small houses to pass under the wires without raising or tearing them down. Cnder the present ordinance, the contractor must get a permit from the. companifs to move houses under the wires.

ItV IDA 1 1 MeC.LOXH C.IHSON. "Pantomime and personality will make you attractive even if you never use a freckle lotion,", says Ueverly Iiayne. "And nothing shows so much of a woman's personality as her mouth." The mouth plays nn even greater part in facial loveliness than the eyes. I have never yet .'en a woman with a. lovely mouth who was not called beautiful. Heverly Bayne says: "You would think that in moving pictures the mouth as you cannot hear words spoken would not be very Important, but the next time you go to the 'movies' watch the months of the actors. You can read the ftory most by their expressions, even if you are not a life reader and cannot tell what they are saying." I have always said: "Ixt me see a woman's mouth after she is 4 0 and I can tell you almost as much of her life and character as the palmist could from her hands." Probably right here, little Ugly Mouth will say with a pout: "Well, what are you going to do about it?" You can change the shape of your mouth easier than any other feature

of your face. There is no reason why anyone

should not have a pretty mouth. If your teeth are bad a visit or two at the dentist will remedy that. Then comes the shape of the lips. Go to the glass and look at your mouth carefully. If you are a discontented sort of a woman you will find it drops at the corners? that there are lines from these corners down to the sides of your chin. As you grow older the parenthesis lines from your nose to the corners of the mouth will appear. I know a woman who had all these sings of pessimism and discontent and changed them absolutely wfter she was 3T years old. At 40 she is considered much better looking than ever before in her life. How did she do it? Simply by banishing the hard thoughts, the sad thoughts, the unhappy thoughts from her mind. She never closes her mouth in the determined, ugly fashion which she used to do habitually. She smiles to herself and at hersvlf if she finds no one to smile with and nothing to smile at. When she goes to sleep at night she does so with a smile. "Don't get in a habit of keeping your mouth open." says Heverly Hayne. "even if you think your teeth are your most attractive feature." A sudden smile and a flash of gleaming pearls are much more alluring than if you are showing them all
