the chief feature of the afternoon althoudi some time was spent in pleasures. A luncheon was served by the hostess.

George Predericks, who resided on v. farm lL' miles southeast of Mishawaka, becoming tired of life, on Thursday shortly after the dinner hour, took an ounce of carbolic acid and died short

ly afterward. No reason was given for

tho suicide, as Fredericks was a pros

perous, well-to-do farmer, and had no domestic trouble?. Farly Thursdav morning Fredericks, in company with bis 10-year-old son, left his home for Wakarusa. While in that city, Fredericks gave his spn some money with which to buy candy. While the hoy went after the candy, Mr. Fredericks entered the drug store and evidently bought the acid, as tho Fon saw his father leaving the

store with a bottle of tluld. Fredericks and his son then went to the home of hLs father, which is located near his home. After ent--:li:g his father's home, he took the poison .and was found dead shortly after by the maid.

Medical aid was summoned but all efforts to revive him proved futile. Fredericks was about 4 5 years old. He was born in this vicinity and spent his entire life south of here. Twentythree years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Anthony, who, with six sons survives him. lie also leaves his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fredericks, two brothers, John and Joseph Fredericks, of south of tho city, and one sister, who lives south of here. Coroner Swantz was summoned. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.

.MISHAWAKA C.IRL WEDS. Miss I.lta Lukenbach of this city and Frank Peoples of Chicago were united In marriage Wednesday evening at 3: ?,0 o'clock at the home of the groom's parents in Chicago. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. I). Hull of Chicago, who was formerly pastor of the. First Christian church of this city.

are rusticating in the police cells. Their homes are in Buffalo and they left that city with the intention of going into

the harvest fields of Iakota. They

pooled their money and it totaled fifteen cents. During the trip they spent this munificent fortune on three loaves of bread. The trio, when they got to Mishawaka were in a famished condition. They were desperate, and according to themselves, they stole some knives and soap from one of the cars of the train in which they had ridden nearly live hundred miles. They told Tho News-Times reporter, who interviewed them in their cell Thursday nliht, that hunger prompted them to commit the act. On being put off the car they started in to peddle their illgotten gains. .Mishawaka has a live police force and the boys were pinched before they realized a dollar on the stolen goods. They appeared before Judge Feig in police court today. They were bound over to the grand jury following the hearing on charges

of grand larceny. They gave their ages as 17. their home as Buffalo, and their names as Steve Lock, Mike Miller, Cdward Weiss and Steve Cross.
