Special to The News-Times. LAl'OItTL. Ind., April ;. It deeloped here Sunday night that Chief
of Police Antiss. who caused tho ! statement to be published that he had I gone to the bedside of his sick sister in Michigan, had left hurriedly for 1 New York city to investigate a Uclle ; Cunness rumor. The fact that the
chief was in Gotham was admitted Sunday night by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Worden, who refused further information.
tiii: Tuoi'iiLi: maki:i:s." There i.-n't much to. commend in 'The Trouble Makers" at the )rpheum. Ward and Vokes used something similar a few seasons ago. but ;s now presented the comedy portion is pretty rough. One or two of the principals awaken a little interest with their musical numbers but the horus is voiceless and not even dragging in the poor old Stars ami Stripes can "help the opening. Lottie Hurke appears in a wel dressed number near the close and the clothes are the best part of the speciality The suffraget burlesque isn't funny In the tirt plnee and Finley anil Williams don't do anything to make it so. Dan Daly, jr., has an impossible pait as a henpecked husband and does little with hi.- specialties. It looks as though the present company In "The Trouble Makers" will have trouble making much of a succes.: over this circuit.

KATHLYN IMCTFUFS. Series number seven of "The Adventures of Kathlyn" will he the prinipal attraction at the Auditorium today. The venegeful Fmballah having delivered his three bags of silver and secured Col. Hare a.s his prisoner, departs for the palace leaving Kathlyn and Hruce tied to the tiger cart with their backs to the savage beasts. Members of the hfinrt 'demand their share of the silver, , hut their chief only glves them one Vag retaining the other two for himself. This makes trouble end 'they release Kathlyn and Hruce and tie the chief in their place. Hruce and Kathlyn make their escape and go to a small village where they are given shelter and then Kathlyn makes another effort to liberate her father. Itarnabai and Pundita offer to assist her again. Fmballah commands Col. Hare to marry a native girl and the girls are brought in heavily veiled, among them is Kathlyn disguised. ;nd when she discloses her features to her father he recognizes that a plan is on foot to liberate him, so he chooses her. Fmballah does not recognize her and after the ceremony is over he goes to the treasure room to secure the betrothal chain of pearls. The room is guarded by leopards and he forgets to close the gate and the leopards escape rushing through tlie palace in different directions. In the panic that ensues Kathlyn becomes separated from her father and Hamabai. and hides in a covered cart in the Harden of Hrides. In the interim Hruce has provided camels for the party to take flight to the coast, but when they assemble on the outside of the wall of the Harden of Brides, they find that Kathlyn is missing and they are fearful that the leopards may have overtaken her. The other pictures for today are The Interference of Broncho Hillv," "A Heal Helpmate" and "A Winter Holiday in the Bernese nberland. Switzerland," a very beautiful travel picture.
