The architect's plan. i can he -een in the league's otflee.s in the murl hous. The invitation from the state league wa.s extended through Miss Harrison. Tho local league is earer to accept the offer, ;is it will enable it to come in contact with cases that are not under its care at present and will give it ideas on how to conduct the business of the league upon a paying and satisfactory basis'. The hrst part to be built will be tbf ward for the care of the incurable cas?s which will come under the rare of the league. It will be large nough to car for 20 at a time. Although this is not as large a ward as tb league had at lirst planned, it is thought it will be. large enough to are for the cases that will apply to the league for attention. Itc,xrt on Stiunp. A report was handed in at this meeting of the $100 that was spent f the r-aiz-d from the sale of Ked Cross stamps in South Bend, which said that tho money had been spent for medical attention for the incurable cases that are under the league', care. As an example of the interest that the foreign people of the west end take) in the "open air" movement. Miss Harrison told of a case that had corno to her attention. She noticed one of the poorer dwellings of that end of town had built a screen porch from old lumber and screen at one nd of the home. She asked a young boy of the neighborhood who lived there, and he tdd her that a young lady about IS years old lived in the placft and slept on the homemade veranda. It developed that the family were Hungarians, and that the young lady "had a touch of consumption." Miss Harrison was soberly warned by the youngster that unless she slept "out on the porch." that she also would get consumption. Since then. Miss Harrison says, she has seen several home-constructed screen porches in that section of the city. The hospital will be built on ti'.e site of Aider's mill, just beyond uie limit of the land belonging to St. Mary's academy. It will be planned so that each room will open on large open-air verandas, one of which wiil be on each side. one side will bo for the male patients anil the other for the women.
