In th morning he took for his theme. "Our Manifestation of the Father". At the close of the sermon there were 2 7 baptized hv the pastor. Jn the evening I'.ev. Ford delivered tho sermon from the subject. "The Common Good'. Special music was furnished by the chorus. Tho meeting of the Kivcr Park Civic association has been postponed until March 10. II. F. Brooks returned from Fort Wayne, Ind., M on flay, where he spent the past week with relatives. Mrs. E. J. Ketterman of Kerslake court entertained at dinner .Saturday, complimenting Mrs. E. Brock and granddaughter, who are leaving for Nappanec to reside. Covers were placed for seven. Mr. Eeonnrd Piper and Tleuben Phillips of Nappanee, Tnd.. have returned after a visit with Mrs. II. F. Brooks, of X. Eleventh st. Miss Grace Wolfe, teacher in the "River Park school, spent the week end with relatives at Plymouth. Ind. Tjomuel Klintrer. w'u has been ill the past week, is improved. Mrs. Harvey Hoover, of Nineteenth St. will bo hostess to the River Bark Independent club Thursday afternoon. SHOT 11Y PARTNER. BIRMINGHAM. Ala.. March W. A. Watts, u prominent real estate dealer and contractor, was shot by James A. Hillman. his business partner, nt noon Monday, following a quarrel In the firm's office. No one was present at the shooting. Watts was rushed to a hospital in a dangerous condition and Hillman was taken to Jail.

her home in South Rend after a week'n visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Hasklns. Alvin Willis received a telegram Friday afternoon telling of the death of his mother. Mrs. E. J. Willis, at her home in. Tallman. Mich. Mr. Willis, his wife and son. left early Saturday morning for that city. Mr. and Mrs. William Storick were visitors at .the George Armstrong home in Berrien Center Friday. The social given bv the Hinchman band at Hinchman Saturday evening wa a great success and about 561 was added to the treasury. Several slcighloads from this vilrage were in attendance. G. N. Parketon is seriously 111 at his home south of town. Mrs. Sherman Dlllev has returned from a few days' vhdt with her sister, Mrs. Roxa Rollins in Mishawaka. Mrs. Forest Buckman is ill with an attack of grippe. Walter Priddy and Thomas Taylor, jr., the new owners have moved the pool room frim the Bihlmire building to the Priddy block which was recently occupied by the Wilson Hardware Co. Harry Myers was a business visitor in St. Joseph Friday. Mrs. W. A. Smith of South Bend was a week-end visitor at the home of her par tats, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hoopingarner. Postmaster J. C. Hoopingarner and Jesso Wollam were in Niles Friday on business for the I. O. O. F. lodge. The prand master and grand secretary of the state will be in Niles, Tuesday, March ?,, for a school of instruction. Many from this place will be In attendance. Mr. and Mrs. William Wynn, Mrs. A. F. The funds will be used in buying pictures for the new school building. Mrs. M. H. Simpson is seriously ill at her home on Cass st. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Higgins have moved to Cassopolis. Their household goods have been stored In 2"Ooms in Mrs. Mary Jewell's house. Miss Ltillie Taylor of Stevensonville and Miss Ada Taylor of MUlburg were week-end visitors at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Taylor.
KINGSBURY. Mrs. Willette White is visiting her sister at Darvillage. Bert Porter died Tuesday evening of pneumonia. He leaves a wife and five children. Mr. Menlch was taken to his home yesterday ill with pneumonia. William Orance spent Tueday ta Laporte. Mrs. Jennie "Lyons and son Willie were in Kingsbury Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. John Kneisley and Mrs. Rosco Hensell spent Thursday at Laporte. Miss Marguerite Stone while playing with her sled with other children caught "her ankle in the sled runner and was painfully hurt. They used the X-ray the same night "by putting her under chloroform. J. Boardman visited his brother Harry Boardman Friday.

WILL NOT MAKE PUBLIC WILSON'S INCOME TAX Treasury Orders Utmost Secrecy Atxmt Returns of Individuals and Corivoratlon Over Country. WASHINGTON. March S. What amount Pres. Wilson and other big men of the country paid into the income tax exchequer Monday will not be made public. By order of the treasury the d:i collectors throughout the country must maintain utmost setecy about returns individuals and corporations. A telegram to this effect was sent them. Officers of the income fax collectors wtre ordered to remain open until midnight. This decision on the part of Secy. McAdoo will save many penalties. Three member of Pre. Wilson's cabinet narrowly escaped being caught in the trap thr.t demands a T.O per cent pen ilty for . failing to make returns on time. These men let the matter m until the last minute. They were instructed ;o make their returns at Baltimore, the office In charge of District of Columbia, Maryland and Delaware. Pres. Wilson following the preceuent estirdished by Grover Cleveland before the old Income tax law was declared unconstitutional, also snt his returns to the Monumental City.
