Mctzler to Classify IMpils Hy Physical Standards After Series of Tests. The efficiency test is to be applied to all high school boys, in an effort to increase the physical standard of the high schools, according to an announcement made by Prof. C. A. Metzler of the high scVnl faculty, and head of the physical training department, Thursday morning. After tho tests, which will include push-up and pull-up tests on the parallel bars, and lifting test for the legs and backs, the students will be clausitied into three divisions. The qualifications necessary to admit the students Into these divisions have not been decided upon yet, but will be announced in a few days. Those who fail to come up to a certain standard will be put into the third class, the lowest class of all, which. Coach Metzler thinks, will have the largest enrollment due to round shoulders and various other defects in the bodies. This classification will have the effect of making every student work hard to better his standing and advance to a higher class. Tests will be made from time to time, and as the student progresses he will be advanced into a higher class. The first class will probably contain less than ten per cent of the t -dents, while the second class is estirr ed at from 2 5 per cent to C5 per cei,i of the entire enrollment, while the remaining 65 per cent will fill the third class. A final test will be given at the end of the year. The result of this test should be to place South Pend amocg the best schools in the country, and make it noted for the superior physical training of its etudents.
