Th bride's pown was of ivory crepe ie chine with trimming of nhadow lacf and she carried bride's roses and valley The bridesmaid woro white voile over yellow satin with a touch of ermlno and carried yellow chrysanthemums. Following the ceremony a reception was held. A buffet supper was served in tho dining room, the centerpitc on th table, bolntf an empire basket of yellow and white chrysanthemums. The entire house was beautifully decorated in a Fchemc of yellow and white, the decorations bein the tflft of the South liend Floral company by whom the bride has been employed for several years ns designer. The Thanksgiving partv nt the 'omniercial Athletic club Wednesday evening was the occasion for a Jolly, informal timo for the 40 couples attending. The gymnasium was arranged to represent a barn with stalls, hay stacks and piles of baled s-trrww Blankets and harness, hung about the walls, gave it all a realistic effect. A number came in hard times (i.sturnes adding to the fun. The refreshments consisted of pumpkin pie, apples and doughnuts. Mattes' orchestra played the program of dances. The Colfax W. C. T. U. met Wednesday afternoon with Mr;?. Mary f'ollin?, 725 Cottage Grove a v. The general topic for the occasion was "Scientific Temperance" and the leader wis Mrs, AV. D. Bulla. The next meeting of the union will be Dec. 17 at the home of Mrs. F. S. Hluss, Sherman a v. The South Fend Turnvereln entertained at its annual Thanksgiving party in Turner hall AVcdnesday evening. Graf's ohestra played for the dancing and appropriate refreshments were served. The Elks club will hold its annual pen house today. This afternoon the children will be entertained at dancing and games from 2:30 o'clock to ,'. and in the evening the grown-ups will be entertained. The history department ef the Progress club met Wednesday afternoon. The feature of the meeting was an interesting paper on "City Government in the Fifited .States Its Strength and Weakness" by Mrs. 1 S. Hammerschmldt. Mrs. HammerMdimidt traced the development of municipal governments from Colonial times to the present day and discussed the several forms of present-day government. BASKETS DISTRIBUTED Auten Kelicf Corps Takes Caro of Thirty Families. Thirty families will pit down to a Avell filled table today and have reason to give thanks as a result of the activities on the part of the members of the Auten Relief corps, who distributed the baskets yesterday. These baskets contain fruit and food, including chicken and other necessaries for a big dinner, and were delivered yesterday. In several cases special food was prepared for invalids. About 75 juniors enjoyed the first class party of the year given in the high school gymnasium Wednesday afternoon. A short program, including pongs and dances by various members of the class, preceded the dancing, which coin-Iuucd ii;e entertainment. The senior class will be given a party by the Interlude as a reward for winning the Interlude subseripion contest. The expenses will be taken out of the Interlude fund. Bank Clerk Arrested As He Was About to Leave for Europe Defies Officials to Prove Him Guilty. NCAV YOUK, Nov. 2C. James Edward Foye, a $70 a month clerk accused of the theft of more than $1,000, uoo from the Farmers Loan and Security Co., delied his accusers AA'cdnesday to prove their charges. Foye, who was arrested Tuesday night as he stepped from a Philadelphia train, was arraigned AVednesday. "I worked for a trust company for $75 a month." he said. "They knew I was .13 years old and they ought to know that a man cant honestly live on that. That's all. And they can't get me on It either." According to the police, a certified check for $07,000 and $5,000 which was found in Foye's pockets when he was arrested, was taken from the bank. Pinkerton detectives arc still investigating. Jiefore Foye went to work for the bank he was employed as secretary by John W. (JaKs and Charles CI. Gates. According to the accusations Foye abstracted General Electric, Union Pacific and other bonds from the vaults of the company and forged stock certificates, his activities extending over a number of months. That Foye had planned to go to Europe and that he had been caught just in time to prevent flight from this country was Indicated by documents found in his pockets. A paper was found bearing a number of notations as to how a fugitive should conduct himself to avoid detection, among them being to avoid tourist booking offices and cabmen and "to pay particular attention to barmaids".
