A HOG IS FULL GROWN
WHEN IT ISA DEAD ONE
Judgo Makes This DeciMon When
Neighbors Can't Agree on tho Question.
MUXCIE, Ind., July T2. Judse
'William A. Thompson of the Dela
ware circuit court, nas officially decided when a hog becomes full grown and this is his decision: "A hog is
full grown when it is dead, because then it cannot prow any more."
The matter came up in a suit be
tween a landlord and tenant over fulfillment of the terms of a farm lease,
the ownership and valuation of a number of hops being in question. Attorneys for one side said that there is no such thing as a "full grown"
hog. while lawyers for the opposition
contended that a hog may attain its
full growth.

L.ook at this animal! ,ome folks think it is tho QUEEREST, most UNSIGHTL.Y inhabitant in the Zoo. Its name is Kangaroo! The odd thing about it is the unevenness of feet. The hind legs are long and big and strong. The tail is heavy and so 'powerful that the Kangaroo uses it to fight. Hut the forefeet are very, very short! Did you ever know anything quite so queer? The consequence is that when the Kangaroo tries to mw on its four feet it Is obliged to hop instead of walk. And every time it touches the ground it fa'ls forward until its little, short front feet toiieh the ground. Me. oh my, it's funny to watch the animal ! There's something rise I want to tell you about the Kangaroo which you may never have noticed. It has not any first toe m its hind feet! The second and third are very

Night
There was plenty of grounds to believe that some tragedy had occurred
on Chain lakes Sunday according to George Miliken, a farmer who lives
near one of the lakes and who sent word to the police, asking that they
come out and search for the body.
According to Miliken his ten-year-old daughter saw the clothes Satur
day night. Sunday morning she and
another daughter saw the clothes
again. This time they called Mili-
ken's attention to the fact and he at once notified the police and started a hunt over the lakes.

STRIKE IS STILL ON
BOSTON, Mass., July 22. Whether Mrs. Genevieve Chandler Phipps, divorced wife of Lawrence C. Phipps, Pittsburgh steel magnate, has again married or is about to become a bride was a question Boston was trying to solve Monday. By re-marrj;ing she would forfeit the income from $500.00. Mrs. Phipps arrived here on the liner Cleveland and went to a hotel, but could not be seen. There was also some mystery as to the man who arrived on the same steamer, and who
is taken as her present or future husband. The liner's passenger list showed "E. W. Porter", of Denver, but fellowpassengers expressed the belief that this man was Edward W. B. Powell, of Denver. According to the passengers. "Porter" gave a dinner on board which they took to be an engagement dinner, and it was noticed that Mrs. Phipps was wearing a beautiful diamond solitaire, although she had not been known to wear rings of any sort since her divorce.
She is forced to give up the income from $500,000 in case she takes another husband, according to the settlement made upon ber by Phipps at the time of their divorce in 1904. At that time she was granted the income from $750,000, of which she may keep only $2 50,000 if she remarries. Mrs. Phipps was the second wife of the steel magnate and they separated six years after their marriage. Tho suit was preceded by the kidnapping of the two children from a hotel here by Phipps in 1902. He hurried to Denver with them and two years later was granted a decree. Mrs. Phipps did not contest the suit. There have been many rumors of a reconciliation between Phipps and his former wife, but two years ago Phipps married Miss Margaret Rogers of Denver. It was also reported at times that Mrs. Phipps was to marry A. Hart McKee, a Denver physician, who is said to have iigured in the separation case.

How do von suppose they can be
cared for bv their mothers
Why, Dame Nature has provided a J
very simple, safe way. The Kangaroo has a pouch in which it can carry the baby Kangaroos around until they grow big enough and strong .nough to hop around by themselves! They remain . in the pouch for weeks and sometimes for months, gradually increasing in size and power. Every once in a while as they get stronger, they jump out of the pouch and do a little hopping on their own account! But they never stray very far from the mother, and if there is the slightest sign of dantr they hop back into the pouch for safe keeping. The kan Karoo is timid. Its only weapons are its strong hind legs and its tail. When it wants to see a long dis
tance or listen carefully It sits up on its hind legs as you see in the pict u re.
