THE undersigned Road Commisioners. unpointed by the Jaw of the mm m State of Indiana, "laying oif certain State Roads in said state;' will meet it Centervillc, Wayne County, Indiana, on triday the 23 day of August next, For the purpose of receiving Proposals of the road commencing at tie State line, near to Peter Flemings. The Road will be let out in dis tricts of One Mile each, to be num bered by the number of the mile at its western end, ai d w ill be requited to be opened Forty-eight feet w ide. clear of Timber and Brush of every description; the trees to be cut even with tfie ground, except those that ' are 18 inches in diameter and up wards, w hich must be cut at 12 inch es from the ground, and the sight trees and blazes are to be consider ed as the middle of the road. AH Causeways and Bridges are to be made of timber not less than six inches in diameter, cut not less than 15 feet long, to be laid down even at the ends, solid, level, and on the middle of the road, to have an open wav under each Causewa. or Bridge, for the free passage of the water, and where the timber will be liable to float, it must bo fastened down. All sideling places are to be dug level, at least fifteen feet wide, with the necessary ditches for carrying ofT the water. All banks occasioned by the falling of timber are to be leveled and all other banks at watercourses, as well as elsewhere, are to be suthciently dug to admit the passage of loaded waggons. Every small water course that is miry is to be bridged, as well as each abrupt hollow or ditch. Cause' ways are to be made at places and of ma m - I - . . . the lengths, designated on the plat of the road. There will also be re quired to be substantially set up on the North side of the road, at the end of every mile, a Hewn Post of dura me timber at least 12 inches souaie. ii.. and 4 feet high, on vhich shall he cui the number of the mile from the commencement of the read. Each contractor will be required to give bond in double the amount of his contract, with one or more sufii cient securities, conditioned for the faithful completion of the contract. and will then be entitled to a draft on the Agent of the three per cent, fund for one third part of the amount ofj ins contract, arid will receive a draft for the ballance when the work is completed. The work must be completed in three months from the date of the contract. All propositions must he made . in writing, signed by the person wishing to contract: fnust contain the name or names of the securities must be sealed up, and endorsed on the back "Proposals for District XX o.
