COMPLETES ICE HARVEST; BIG CROP WAS GATHERED.
In Addition to I,SOO Tons for Himself Kellner Puts Up for Roth Bros, and Jqhn Nichols. Last year Cooney Kellner spent $1,734 for artificial ice and the freight in getting it here. This year he has spent about S7OO to workmen in gathering the finest crop of ice ever put up in Jasper county. Next year he will have enough ice to take care of the local demands and probably enough to supply the town still another year if he should fail to get ice again next year. We<lnesday the finishing touches were put on the packing of his two big ice houses, one on the bank of the river and the other at his residence in the east part of town and he believes he has about I,BQO tons. In addition to this he has filled the Roth Bros, ice house, which took about 250 tons and has sold ice on the pond bank to John Nichols, who will put up about 60 tons for thp use of his depot meat market.. Teams are hauling for Nichols today. As previously stated the water in the artificial ice pond was drained out in the late fall and the pond then pumped full of water from drilled wells. The ice is clear and even, free from shale and snow layers and will be better than artificial ice.
