Proceedings of City Council.

At the city council meeting Monday evening but little business was transacted, the session being largely taken up in discussing the proposed telephone franchise. The offer of the Jasper County Draining Association of their rights in the river bed to the city was accepted. This will give the city the right of the excavated rock formerly belonging to the association and control over the given channel. A. G. Catt tendered his resignation as secretary of the board of health, which was accepted. The city treasurer presented his report, showing the following balances on hand: Electric light fund, $5,597.98; water, $1,464:86; corporation, dr. balance, $24.70.
