It is hard to say whether Joe Borntrager or 'the Republican was the victim of an unsigned communication to the Republican one day last week. Joe recently sold his farm and the sale was chronicled in the Republican. A few days later a letter was received here which stated that Joe was in quest of, a small farm and had looked at the Seible farm with a view to buying it. Presuming the article to be from Joe himself it was published without question. Mr. Borntrager, however, had not written it and states that he never had any thought of buying the Seible farm. Hq would like to know who wrote the item and why he was thus misrepresented.
“Jinks” Brenner denied the loss of the $lO in gold, reported by the Mt. Ayr Pilot, and stated that he never let any stranger see his bag of gold, that no one • ver tdok $lO from his bag of gold, that he would not be foolish enough to let any stranger handle his bag of gold and lastly that he never owned a bag of gold. But “Jinks” did lose a $5 bill one day last week. He dropped it at the postoffice and discovered its absence a few minutes later. He did what all intelligent people do in a case of that kind, placed a classified ad in the Republican. Simon Leopold found the fiver, saw the ad and restored the money to its rightful owner. Losing a thing don’t worry patrons of our classified column very much.
The table silverware should come from a jewelry store both for the reason of true economy, which meanß best value for you- money from the standpoint of years of service. Tableware, when bought of us, is twice as cheap as the service you get when you buy unreliable goods from department stores and mail order houses.
