Some Uncertainty About Cook’s North Pole Discovery Claims.

There has been a growing uncertainty about the claims of Dr. Frederick A. Cook that he discovered tfie north pole. While the discredit of Peary may have been prompted by jealousy, there seems to have been a growing feeling over the country that Cook’s claims were not supported by proofs. His New York lawyer has refused to longer represent him, but hi* private secretary remains loyal. Hl* so-called proofs are now in possession of Dr. Torp, rector of the University of Copenhagen. If Cook did fake up his story the question arises did Peary reach the pole?
