Farewell Church Reception To Two Devoted Families.
The Christian church parlors were thronged Monday evening by members of the church who had assembled to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Coen and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Norman and children. Both families are soon to remove from Rensselaer, the former going to South Bend and the latter to Larimore, N. Dak., and as they have been devoted members of the church a reception had been arranged to which all members of the church were invited. A very interesting program was carried out, consisting of solos by Dr. W. L. Myer and Harry Jacobs, and talks by W. S. Day, Mrs. Julia A. Healey, L. H. Hamilton and Mrs. Frank Foltz. Mr. Hamilton presented Mrs. Coen and Mrs. Norman each with a souvenir spoon with the new church building engraved in the bowl. Both of the ladies and their husbands responded to the words of praise and expressions of good wishes that were extended from all sides and the evening was very pleasantly spent. Refreshments of chicken sandwiches, pickles, coffee and cake were served. Mr. and Mrs. Coeti have been members of the church since itß organization and Mr. Norman and wife have belonged for several years. The latter family live a mile in the country and have the remarkable record of having all six, father, mother and four children, having attended Sunday school every Sunday for a year. The devotion of each family to the church is the cause of the most extreme regret that they a-e going away.
