Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary Celebrated By Large Family.
One of the most enjoyable golden wedding anniversaries ever celebrated in Jasper county was that on last Saturday, Nov. 27th, of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schultz, of Union township. This well known German couple were married in the fatherland half a century ago and they have lived in Jasper county for a great many years and their nine living children are all married and have families living within easy driving distance of the home of their aged parents. The five sons and their wives and four’ daughters and their husbands and all of the children of each were on hand to assist in making the golden wedding anniversary memorable and it is probable that a more complete gathering of ancestry never before assembled in northwestern Indiana if in the state. In addition to the 18 sons and daughters and their wives and husbands, there were forty children and grandchildren, making a total of 60 in all. The names of the sons are Paul, Adolph, Emil, Julius and August. The names of the daughters are Hulda Rosenbaum, Clara Harre and Lena and Bertha Schultz, the. two last named being married to men of their own names. Mr. and Mrs. Schultz received a number of fine presents and a great dinner was served, after which all sixty of the Schultz family and the other guests, headed by the couple in whose honor the event was held went to the little German Lutheran church near the Schultz home, where Rev. William Heine, of Goodland, conducted a religious service. All of the guests bad a fine time and none enjoyed it more than “Uncle” Mike and his wife.
