Audience Delighted With the Georgia Galvin Recital.
The Georgia Galvin recital at the Christian church last evening dethe audience that attended it. The sweet, powerful and splendidly controlled voice was admirably used in a" great variety of songs, and Miss Galvin sang not only in English, but in. French, Italian and German, and music lovers were quite enraptured by her grace of style as well as by her singing. She interpreted several of the songs which she rendered and told in a charming way the story of Madam Butterfly, from which opera she sang “One Fine Day.” Nothing seeined too difficult for her and no singer who ever appeared in Rensselaer so completely captivated an audience. Prof. Alphonse Staeger, musical instructor at the college and private instructor in this city, rendered several selections on the pipe organ, and his part of the program was also very much appreciated and he was encored with such vigor after playing a piece of his own composition that he was recalled for two other pieces. It was Prof. Staeger’s first appearance before the Rensselaer public and every one agreed that he is a real artist. The following program was rendered : Organ Solo.
