Otto Braun Starts Movement To Organize a Band Here.

Otto Braun, formerly of Francesville and now a resident of Lowell and a band man of considerable ability, wants to organize a band in Rensselaer and is receiving considerable encouragement. His idea and it seems correct, would be to start a band of young fellows whose time is not engrossed with business, to start them at the bottom and give them thorough instruction. He says that he can start a band here of from 22 to 30 pieces and by giving one lesson a week to start and two lessons each ■ week in t{ie spring he can put the band in shape for summer concerts. Prof. Braun talked with Lonzo Healy, -John Merritt and others of we.llknown musical talent and also to Rev. Parrbtt about getting the K. O. Ji. A. boyß interested. He thinks the cost would only be 25 cents for each boy fojr each lesson and that when the concert season opens the boys will not only be able to pay expenses but something better than that. < - A meeting will probably be called for next Monday night, when Prof. Braun will explain his plans to the boys and their parents. It is a good movement and worthy -of patronage.
