George Timberlake Must Spend Full Time In Bloomington Jail.
Geo. M. Timberlake, the former Lafayette citizen who was convicted at Bloomington of selling booze, and sentenced to pay a fine and serve 30 days in jail, will have to remain in jail the full time. He was anxiqus to get out, he stated, to witness the footbalL game next Saturday between Purdue and I. U., and he appealed to Governor Marshall* to be pardoned. The governor said he would not pardon him unless President Bryan, of the University, Judge Hogate, dean of the law 7 school, and Judges James B. Wilson and Robert. W. Miners requested the pardon. These men refused to sign any request and the gay George will get out of jail the day before Thanksgiving. Timberlake w r as convicted under the “blind tiger” law after selling large quantities of “Egyptian malt” to the students at I. U. President Bryan very properly refused to sign a request for his release.

Town of Monon Is Prosperous and Building Employs Many Mechanics.
Monon News. If the improvements now under way in Monon may be regarded as a sign of the times, the prosperity wave has reached us in large proportions. Several first class residences are in course of erection and as many more are being remodeled at a cost equal to .that of ordinary houses. Artisans of all kinds gre in demand and the greatest activity prevails to get work completed before winter sets in. The number of substantial improvements to be placed to the credit of 1909 will surpass any year of modern date in history of the town. These improvements have not only absorbed the mechanical skill of Monon, but have brought outside labor here, some of the best houses being in charge of Jcontractors frorff a distance.
